Double Six Beach lies along the front of the popular Seminyak village, on the west coast of Bali. The pristine white sands are perfect for relaxing under the sun, or join the party once the sun goes down as the beach-front bars and clubs fill up.
This beach is known to be quieter than the neighbouring Kuta Beach to the south, but you will still find plenty of options to keep you entertained. Get here early for a tranquil view over the deep blue Indian Ocean, or head out along the sand for an invigorating morning jog. For an extra-special adventure, you can hire a horse and guide, and ride the length of the beach on horseback.
The soft sand is perfect if you want to stretch out and top up your tan, and the relatively shallow sea is perfect for swimming and snorkelling. There are plenty of beach shacks hiring out sun loungers and selling snacks and refreshments, including the local speciality beer Bintang. From time to time, you will be approached by itinerant vendors, but don’t feel under obligation to make any purchases.
As the day progresses, you’ll see soccer and beach volleyball matches starting up along the beach. Surfing is also hugely popular along this stretch of coast. You can book lessons at one of the two surf schools in the area, or just hire a board and hit the waves on your own.
Back from the beach, you’ll find that the village of Seminyak is full of boutiques and art galleries, as well as gourmet restaurants. You can easily spend a few hours exploring this popular tourist destination. Alternatively, for a traditional Balinese experience, head to the 15th century Petitenget Temple to the north, famous for its beach-front ceremonies.
Head back to the beach at the day draws to an end, grab a cocktail and watch the spectacular sight of the sun setting into the ocean.
Double Six Beach is approximately 30 minutes by car from Denpasar Airport, and 15 minutes from Kuta. The climate in Bali is at its best in the cooler dry season between May and October.
