As soon as we got there, the power went out. They were completely unprepared. We had to check out and it took weeks for us to get our money back.

Beds were uncomfortable. Pillows so big that I had neck strain. No fitted bottom sheet so when u pulled the covers down all sheets were untucked. Blanket had a burn hole. Carpet was dirty.

The property was truly an oasis within an extreme desert. We visited Death Valley National Park and loved the experience- hiking and sightseeing. The Ranch was a very nice facility to come back to after a day of exploring and hiking. I was surprised at the number of eating and shopping options available given the extreme remoteness of the National Park. I would certainly stay here again should we revisit Death Valley.

Unique spot in the middle of nowhere! Stayed in the cottages, they were beautiful clean and spacious. Limited food choices, made worse by apparent staff shortages as the restaurants weren’t open some days. We hiked the surrounding hills and hit the must-sees all close to the hotel. Pack in some food/water/snacks from the towns on the way to Death Valley. There is a shop on site but really pricey. Pool is awesome but needs a scrubbing, a far bit of green slime in the side steps.

The rooms need updating, guests should be informed at check-in there is no housekeeping for extending stays. Since there is no housekeeping they should provide enough coffee, tissues etc for the entire stay. The dinner buffet in the 1849 restaurant is terrible and extremely overpriced. The food had little taste and limited variety.

It is so disappointing to see what Xanterra has done to our National Parks. It's all about the money and not about the service. Outrageous prices for a broken down, dirty room. Pool bathroom/shower was ewww. So disappointing. The food in the park is horrendous and so over priced it's insane. My advice, get a camp site or remote camp in your car providing it's not summer. Bring a cooler with your own food and stay far away from Xanterra! Enjoy the serenity and beauty of Death Valley.

Wonderful property right in the national park. Beautiful grounds. Easy to access and rooms were comfortable. Free parking. Not many options for food especially vegetarians. Front desk could be more welcoming, the phone in the room to call front desk does not get picked up. Be mindful of limited check in time.

The location was remote, and beautiful. Rooms were clean and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. The buffet was cold, limited options,overpriced and generally not very good. It seemed like it was also the employee's cafeteria.

We had an amazing stay. The only negative we found was that the air conditioning did not go below 72 in the room and we are used to 68. This was primarily due to the thermostat not being able to be set below the 72 mark. Is Alaska people like it cold. Lol

We were in a room with our room door smack dab against the entrance door to the building on the second floor. The spring door closer attached to the top of that entrance door was broken so instead of a soft closing, everytime someone entered or exited the building through the door, it would violently slam shut. (To give you an idea of how hard it slammed shut, later that day when I was showering, my companion asleep in bed was woken up by the thud and thought I had fallen in the shower). Realizing upon check-in (around 6pm) that this door slamming would cause an issue waking us up at night and early morning, I called the front desk to see if we could change into another room farther away from this entrance. Strangely without even asking any further questions about the issue or talking about the door issue to try to come to a solution, she defensively and defiantly said that they were fully booked, no room change would be possible...almost as if she had been prepared for this request. The fact that we were the last room to check in and this was the last room to be assigned suggested that no one wanted this room either (who knows? perhaps someone had already asked to switch out of this room). And her suspiciously quick and defensive response (she didn't even ask about the door, not even a "Oh? What's wrong with the door?") also suggests they were prepared for the pushback with this room. Shady practices...

The mattresses were not comfortable and there were small bugs flying around in the room. The air conditioner kept us awake all night turning on and off. A miserable night.

The reason I made a reservation here was because of the location and the fact that the room was on a single floor and had a view, but since it was a first floor room in a two-story hallway building, there was no view, it was dark, and I hated it. I will never go here again and I will not recommend it to anyone.

Very conflicted about this peoperty. When I went there was not enough staff in order for all the amenities to be open ie Saloon closed, Ice Cream Parlor closed, only way to get dinner is driving up the road. The pool was great, it being in the middle of the park was a big time saver. The saloon was open 1 night while i was there but they dont allow take out.

Really enjoyed the stay at the Inn. The pool worked well for a proper refreshing swim after a days driving. Room was clean and had good aircon. There are dining options on site and the grounds are well looked after.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Ranch. We stayed in the new Cottages and they were very nicely done and comfortable. We especially liked sitting out on the small patio at night. Our only complaint is that there is very little sound insulation. We could clearly hear our neighbors talking and closing doors whenever they were present and awake. The location is great. Very central for seeing the sights in Death Valley. There are a couple of restaurants to choose from. We ate at the buffet twice and we were happy with the experience. They had a good selection and there was no wait. The Saloon had a long wait and it was expensive. Overall a very nice visit. We will be back.

Amazing location and facilities to say it is in the middle of death valley. It is a bit tired and dated, not the cleanest, but good value for money. We loved eating in the restaurant but be prepared for a wait, they do not allow pre-booking so first come first served, not sure how that works if you have a big party, but food is very good even if a little pricey. Local convenience store is good and the ice cream parlour is a must.

We had booked a 2 queen bed room. Upon arrival the room smelled so bad and it was not even cleaned. So we were upgraded to cottages. Those are really good. I have given 3 stars only because the front desk were kind enough to upgrade us to cottages.

We arrived a little bit early and was told check in at 4pm, we waited then at 4:10pm try to check in and was told the room will not be ready in another 30 minutes! Then waited in ling lines for to check in and front desk staff (April) did not explain anything! Horrible check in experience! Room was ok, however, shower-no cold water, drainage issue-take forever for water to drain

We liked the surrounding & the comfort of room, although the curtains were messed up The Ranch was convenient to the locations we hiked. Disappointed that the Saloon didn’t offer a burger for dinner! Totally ridiculous! Thought prices for food was high, no sandwiches for dinner. You shouldn’t offer crab cakes!

Oasis in the desert! Very beautiful, clean, and new one bedroom suite cottage with front porch. Well maintained grounds with palm trees and flowers. Warm spring pool was very relaxing. General store, restaurants, ice cream parlor, gas station, visitor center, museum, sports court, and pool are nearby and convenient. Staff were friendly and nice.

Beautiful dark sky was visible from the golf course. Buffet meals were ok and convenient, but would have liked other options for lunch. Ice cream parlor was fun to visit and get milk shakes. Location was good.

We stayed in the regular original hotel room. It was only one night and it was fine. Clean but outdated. I think the Casitas would have been newer and nicer and I would have done that if I was there multiple days. We ate at the Tavern and it is very average as is all the food within 5 minutes of the ranch. So we went with the cheapest option. The grounds are very pretty and I enjoyed walking around the ranch. It was great for one night to get us to our next stop.

The grounds are very clean and well kept and the pool is very nice. The dining options are all very pricey, as is the shop. As there is nowhere else you are a bit of a captive customer.
