The iconic Pikes Peak is a must-see for visitors to Colorado Springs. This gorgeous mountain, which is part of the Rockies, has some serious historical pedigree. In the 19th century, it was a symbol for the region’s great gold rush. Hike to its 4,302-metre (14,115-foot) tall summit along the popular Barr Trail, or take the Pikes Peak Cog Railway for a relaxing ride to the top. Note that the railway is closed in January and February.
Descend the great mountain and enter the Garden of Gods city park, which is located at the foot of Pikes Peak. Here you will find a remarkable red rock formation as well as a number of other beautiful natural features.

The city is well served by busses and taxis, although many visitors choose to drive since parking and roads are good and many destinations are only accessible by car.
