Farm, Unique, Immaculate, Close to City but Feels like Country, One of a Kind!
Cross the bridge, pass through the gates and go up a winding driveway to our light, sunny guest house that feels like you're in the country far away from everything but is right off the interstate. Our Cottage is a bright, spacious 1,800 sq. feet of living space that is unique, beautiful and sparkling clean. Our property offers plenty of outdoor places to sit and relax as well as immediate access to a regional trail that runs for miles in both directions and a toe dip in a creek. We are just a quick drive to many local attractions as well as just south of the Air Force Academy. Located on a small farm, you'll see our cattle and chickens and maybe - if you're lucky! - some Colorado wildlife. On any given visit, you'll hear the Star Spangled Banner floating through the breeze from the Air Force Academy and the train whistles as it heads north or south. This listing is a calm oasis while simultaneously very unique! We love it here and hope you do, too!
We've been hosting at our Country Cottage since 2017, accommodating families, bridal parties, team retreats, and even honeymooners at our Cottage. Our continual five-star reviews give our family great satisfaction and pride in offering our Cottage to guests as we join VRBO in 2019.
Our beautiful ranch-style, wheelchair accessible Cottage is newly renovated, and it sleeps seven, making it perfect for families and groups. Our Cottage offers 3 bedrooms (total of 5 beds, including the trundle) as well as two bathrooms with showers. A complete, well-equipped kitchen with island, full-size refrigerator, oven and dishwasher gives you the ability to make a scrumptious dinner or whip up something quickly. A large living room has sofas perfect for a game night, watching a movie or relaxing with your group. An attached garage is available for storing sporting equipment and coolers. An outdoor patio table and chairs gives you the opportunity to enjoy Colorado's beautiful outdoors from various vantage points around the Cottage. Our property and Cottage are completely non-smoking in their entirety, so you will be able to breathe in the beautiful Colorado air both inside and out!
Our Country Cottage 'Cross the Creek is a dedicated, private guest house located on our farm property. You will be able to park right outside the front door. We will contact you through the VRBO message center on the day of your arrival with directions and keyless access information for the Cottage.
Our Cottage provides immediate access to the 20-mile long New Santa Fe Trail, which runs along Monument Creek from Colorado Springs to Palmer Lake, crossing through the Air Force Academy. Guests can enjoy walking, running, hiking, biking or just meandering along this trail. Our property is located just a couple miles off the interstate, so grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations and Walmart are all within 2-5 miles from our Cottage. We are one exit away from the Air Force Academy and 8 miles from the Garden of the Gods park.
Our family lives in a separate house on the property. We are available to make your stay the best experience possible if you need anything, but we are also far enough away that you will have your privacy! I love to try to at least meet and say hello to each of our guests, so I hope that I can meet you during your stay, too!

Our family had an excellent stay at this property. Everything was as promised, and it was an excellent place to share a home-cooked meal in a beautiful open-concept kitchen/dining area. Also close to a trail that goes by the Air Force Academy. Overall, excellent property!

My family and I had a wonderful stay here. The location was convenient to everything we wanted to do--seeing family in the Black Forrest area, Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods, and was in a great location for easily getting to grocery stores. The house and property were beautiful, and the house was very comfortable and well appointed. The kids loved the property, as there was plenty of room for them to explore outside. They especially loved walking down to see the horse and the creek every day--and our frequent visits from a sweet calico kitten. Both also loved watching the trains go by (we didn't find the noise to be at all bothersome). We would definitely stay here again!

The cabin was very clean. Great location with lots of space inside and outside. Cozy and welcoming. We would stay again for longer and use the hiking trail that is right next to the property.

It is quite the puzzle getting all the way back to this VRBO, unmarked while trying to follow very long instructions. Signs through the property and around other houses and old cars would be helpful. Great inside but odd to be in someone’s backyard so far from civilization (except for the train!).

This beautiful farm house was just perfect for my family! The beds were comfortable and the decorations are very inviting. The host was a great communicator who was very response and available when needed. My children loved the cows, horse, and chickens on the property down the street. Great stay! Highly recommend!

We needed a comfortable place to stay for just one night after visiting Colorado College and this was perfect. We picked up an easy dinner to heat up from the nearby Whole Foods and had a relaxing evening before our day of hiking at Garden of the Gods and then driving to Denver airport to return to Texas. I expected to just stay at a hotel but the cottage was well-priced and fortunately allowed a one-night stay. It's as cute and homey as the photos show, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

This cottage is exactly as described! We could not have been happier, and Tosha is an amazing host and very responsive to messages. It fit our family perfectly and was a wonderful place for us to visit and unwind after a day of sight-seeing. Everything was so clean, kitchen had everything we needed, washer and dryer was great so we came home with clean clothes, and the sound machines in each room were a fantastic bonus! If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay with a rustic feel to it, this is it!

Very clean and well appointed little house. Could not have asked for better! Spent 4 nights with our 2 granddaughters. Each had their own room and we all loved the place! Other reviewers complained about the trains even thought it’s disclosed in the listing. No train horns, just the clickity clack of the tracks as it went by. Close to everything but away from everything! What a great combo. I would not hesitate to recommend Tosha’s Country cottage! A lot of house for a little price. Thanks so much!

Why stay in “just a house” when you can stay in a truly magical cottage that will add to your whole vacation experience? We so enjoyed this clean, thoughtful, happy cottage. It is perfect for six, although we had only four. Every morning, Sophia (cuddly black lab) and two sweet cats would wait at our door for some love. The owner was warm, welcoming and attentive. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need (spices, oils, vinegars, etc) which is really nice. Fridge has condiments which is really nice too!! We highly recommend this happy place!

It was a beautiful home but the yard was overgrown and dog poop in the driveway. Listing did not disclose that a train was so close and the bridge on the driveway is caving in and dangerous to drive over. The house has really bad water pressure and taking showers was a huge issue. We had a great time overall and the host was nice and the house was nice.
Their dog Sophia was a sweetie and we loved it when she came to visit.

The cottage was clean and comfortable. Very nice decorations. Great location for our numerous trips to the Air Force Academy. Comfortable beds. But to be perfectly honest, there were 2 big detractors that are not mentioned in the listing. The private concrete slab bridge over the raging creek has obviously broken at some point. We were assured it was safe and we did cross it numerous times in our car. Every time, though, we scraped the bottom, both front and back, no matter how slow we went. One time tore loose a piece of trim that had to be pushed away. The second detractor was the train tracks maybe 20 yards away. Trains went through several times a day, both day and night.

We loved this property, we stayed with 3 adult children and it was super clean and comfortable. All the items we wanted to see were within a 20 m8nute drive from the house. The house was decorated so beautifully for the holidays. The nearby trail is great for exercise and exploring and we had a great time at the Garden of the God's and the Glen Eyrie Castle Madrigal Banquet, something you should attend if you've never been. We had one minor issue and Tosha was very attentive and communicated well to help resolve the problem.
*Just a couple of items if you plan on using a wheelchair.* Yes, the main areas are great for wheechair use! Its a tighter squeeze in the twin beds room for a wheelchair than in the larger double bed sized bedroom. If you are counting on using the bathroom in a wheelchair, you can't close the door and get the wheelchair in the main area bathroom at the same time. My daughter also uses crutches so she could navigate around that issue. We also brought a bath chair for the shower, which you would need to bring if wheelchair dependent. There are double doors to enter which helped us in getting the wheelchair in and out.
Overall, we had a great visit and would highly recommend it! Thanks, Tosha and family!
