Located right on a sandy cove excellent for safe swimming. Easy access to nearby Cala D'Or using the mini shuttle 'train' which stops right outside the hotel. All day snacks from the pool bar and generous measures of spirits in drinks. Disappointed that a charge applies for sun beds on the beach area, when a few steps away nearer the pool they are provided free. However, they get 'reserved' by towels early on, despite signs warning against this. There are beds piled up in areas where it prevents people from using them and you are expected to lift them from the pile yourself then try and find a space to lay it. They are heavy and cumbersome and they would have been better piled up away from the area around the pool, thus allowing that space to be used for beds to be put out for sunbathing. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They left a bottle of wine in my room as I was a returning guest - a nice touch. The food is not gourmet but is plentiful and offers a choice of hot selections, salads and vegetarian options. There was always soup available and soft drinks, wine, water and beer on tap for you to help yourself. For what I paid it was exactly as I expected, a good value, no frills break in the sun in a great location.
We received a friendly welcome on arrival and chose a ground level apartment with a modest sized kitchen, bathroom, good sized lounge and bedroom. Most of our meals were taken outside on the patio in the pleasant temperatures.
The kitchen had a full sized cooker, fridge-freezer and a washing machine but no dish-washer. In addition to the kettle there was a coffee maker though you need to bring filter paper. Bring salt and pepper too.
The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was available though we preferred not to use it. Two LCD TVs are provided and we were delighted to find BBC1 London, BBC 2 & 4 were available though I can understand if others would not rate this as a priority when on holiday. Other European stations were available, including Russian.
There is a bar service during the day and music is played to "entertain" those round the pool. Otherwise there was no entertainment provided when we were there in late summer, which was no loss to us. Most visitors would head out for the evening.
There is a good selection of bars and restaurants in close proximity. Also nearby, almost next door, is a good supermarket which is handy for collecting very inexpensive 5L bottles of water, needed as the tap water is rather salty.
"Nice hotel 1minute from the port and restaurants."
Hotel Varadero is light and airy with fresh white adobe style walls in the rooms. The rooms were basically furnished with the bed (large), 2 slatted wooden chairs, a table; and 2 stone shelves and a rail for clothes. There was a small flat-screenTV and a room safe. Air-con was available - a refundable deposit was needed for the remote. The bathroom was just shower room size with a toilet and tiny sink - which was adequate for our needs and clean, but not luxurious. The beds were quite hard. There wasn't great sound-proofing so you could hear noise from adjacent rooms and outside. We had a nice view from our balcony. Breakfast had to be taken at a Cafe called Blend, on the port-front, which was pleasant. The inclusive food was adequate: toast, cheese, tomato, ham, jams, Nutella, 1drink included, and you could upgrade to extra items like omelettes and melon for a few Euros. Staff at Blend were hard-working and very friendly and seemed to be working from 8am until midnight 7 days a week without a break! Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the location was excellent! There was a lovely roof terrace with views across the port and harbour. Sadly although the roof bar was closed from October, you could take your own wine up there and enjoy the views. For people like us who use a hotel just as somewhere to crash it was ideal and there were plenty of nice restaurants, as well as a cash-point and shops -all within a 5-minute walk.
Brilliant establishment we shall be delighted to return and take others. Only (and not a major problem ) is that after our read up and deciding to dine in the speciality restaurant (which)was full for 2 evenings according to reception .When we did get to Dine there we were VERY disappointed as a better service /range at the main self service restaurant . BUT apart from that every where and everyone of the staff TEAM where fantastic =Cannot praise them enough. Sure as a earlier holiday we had this year in Porta Del Carmen (not same company) these two hotels must have put the staff and management through A "appreciate our Client's course" as they Both were so so great in Customer service !!!

I booked this particular hotel because it has a Hamam and spa facility. When I checked in the staff informed me that they needed 30 minutes to heat up the spa. Fair enough. I requested it to be turned on for 1630 hrs and when I went to use it There were signs saying that it was out of order. Not only the hamam but also the steam room and shower massage. The sauna was barely warm. Then I tried to book a massage for that day or the next with nothing available either. So I decided to go for a swim.... But the pools and jacuzzi shuts down at 1800 hrs. and also found out that they don't open it until 1000 in the morning. disappointing at best.
Hotel was great. Good facilities. Free wifi throughout including apartment. Few minutes walk to Cala Grand beach. Close to town centre where most of restaurants are. Good for families kids club entertainment was good. Would recomend and go back.

The hotel is very well run with clean rooms, lovely enthusiastic staff who want to make your holiday special.
The animation team are great with the children.
All children were all happy and as we all know if kids are happy and so are we.
Close to the beach which is also lovely.
Certainly recommend this hotel,
Six little coves with golden sand and turquoise waters is the raison d’être for Cala d’Or. A modern, multinational low-rise resort in southeast Mallorca, Cala d’Or winds its way around an indented shoreline, punctuated by a series of small marinas. When these beaches get full which in summer is certain head south to the equally beautiful coves at Cala Mondrago, Cala Figuera and Cala Llombards.
