"We had a great stay at this property. Very private, and a short drive to Playa Junquillal (which we loved). Beatrice was a wonderful host and responsive to any questions we had. Directions to the house were clear and accurate. Kitchen had everything we needed. Three AC units all functioned well. The outdoor shower is an amazing feature! Totally different from busy, heavily-touristed areas like Tamarindo. Recommended!"

"Our family of 12 had an amazing vacation here! We had six adults, two teenagers, and children from infant all the way to eight years old. Clean, comfortable, and beautiful home! The four master bedrooms with king size beds, and private bathrooms made for a wonderful and relaxing time together, with space to spread out and have some privacy as well. The kids room with several sleeping areas and their own bathroom as well, and was wonderful. The host provided us with a pack and play, high chair, and beach toys for little ones. The kitchen is well appointed, and the ice machine was a huge plus! The lovely private beach was a favorite gathering place, and the host provides beach chairs for use as well as towels. The real highlight for us was the large pool with waterslide and waterfall. One end is perfect for little ones to play and splash in a shallow area, while the big kids and adults loved the large lap pool, waterslide, and waterfall! Plenty of lounge chairs available, and pool towels as well. The security system was easy to set and disarm, but the safes didn’t work in some of the rooms. Really not a problem given the security system. Having laundry facilities was awesome, and the two kitchens and refrigerators were very convenient . Our family had the vacation of a lifetime! "

"This was easily one of the best stays we’ve ever had. Café Playa Negra is everything a boutique hotel should be—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully run. We were greeted like family and offered lime slush drinks that were pure bliss. Our room was spotless and beautiful, the meals were delicious, and the pool was a perfect escape. Nixon was amazing—so kind and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. This place has heart. And by staying here, you’re supporting the real people of Playa Negra—not just a vacation rental owned by investors. We felt good knowing our visit made a positive impact. We’ll definitely be back."

"Agree with most of the previous reviews but would like to add a couple things we did. We had a family of ten 6 adults, 4 teenage kids. Working with Mary Diekers, the rental property manager, we employed a ten person van and driver to pick us up at the airport. Turns out he was also an excellent daily tour guide, setting up and driving us to zip line, ATV, horse back riding, and river cruise activities. His name is Jeffery Guevara, very friendly, speaks fluent English, and was knowledgable on everything Costa Rican. We also selected to have evening chefs cook dinner for us on three occasions. This was especially helpful after returning from a busy day of activities. Highly recommend Chefs Garrett Hurley and his wife. Their food preparation was incredible, much better than any restaurant. We also rented an SUV at the airport as kind of a back up. As stated by others the property is realatively isolated with bummpy dirt roads in and out. "
