"The property and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the distance from the town of San Pedro. Ten miles is a lot when the mode of transportation is a golf cart and the road is bumpy and dusty. However, if you’re looking to get away from the town and just have a relaxing trip, there is no place better than Sapphire Beach Resort."
Portofino Beach Resort

"Portofino is a beautiful, quaint little resort. We have stayed in their small cabanas a number of times. They are rustic and simple. The resort grounds include a lovely salt water pool, a dock, a small reception area, a small outdoor bar with a beautiful patio under large sea grape trees as well as a restaurant above the reception area that overlooks the gorgeous sea and barrier reef. Overall, it is simply beautiful and relaxing. The frontline staff are phenomenal, truly great and caring human beings. They really make the stay very special. This July 2026 stay, however, we experienced a few disappointments in comparison to past stays. The restaurant food was not as good overall as we have experienced in the past. Most disappointing in respect to the amenities was the removal of the water taxi as an option for going into San Pedro or to other resorts. We were truly saddened not to have that available given how far Portofino is from the city. The biggest challenge, though, was the lack of available beach front and ocean water. While not a reflection on the resort itself, the large amount of seagassum was disgusting and the smell sickening. Sadly, it extended out past the end of the dock."

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house and property are truly top shelf! Everything about it exceeded our expectations. Fanny and Donny, the onsite staff, were fantastic - very friendly and responsive to the few small requests that we had. When we return to Belize, we will definitely return to Anil Mar!!!"

"First a couple insights and tips for preparing for your stay. You are a long way from supplies like food and drinks so unless you plan on eating out and buying drinks, plan a grocery stop prior to your arrival. I was traveling with my full family so we requested a stop in Belize City prior to our water taxi departure. Having a few meals planned offset a lot of worry once we arrived.Second, fly or water taxi. Our flight landed as the last local flight was departing so the water taxi was necessary. It permitted a good haul of groceries but it is a 2 hour trip, not 1 hour to San Pedro. Bring your Dramamine and some Tylenol because after two hours… you get the picture.Third, use Roberto. I was not aware that our recommended scuba guide was also the boat taxi driver. Had we known I would not have scheduled a different service that ended up being late. This is a different country and maybe that is par for service but insure all your plans are verified and you have the means to contact them upon your arrival.Finally, the spot is beautiful. The house is sufficiently air conditioned, the beds cozy, the porch view stunning, the pool delightful. The view is above the sargasso smell so it makes an excellent site to hang out and read. The ad mentions a dvd player which we planned on for evening wind down with kids but it didn’t work. More time to read and chat, which was good."

"the resort was beautiful. loved the pool the kitchen was very nice .very clean. Eiden was very nice and helpful...activity director Karen was awsome and very helpful . making sure all our activities were set up. due to mother nature the beach was not available but there were other beaches near by. karen booked us a tour to check out the Mayan ruins and cave tubing with lunch included. we had an awsome time.....Eddy and Mike {tour guides} were really cool and made sure everyone was comfortable and was having a great time ,they also were very knowledgeable"

From the caretaker Luis to an amazing chef Dominic and all the way to property management of Brittany and Keelan… I definitely had tons of communication with them back-and-forth and everything went smoothly! We are so thankful we found this property and had such an amazing time with our family!"

"So important! In order to reach the resort you either need to take a water taxi ride which requires a taxi from the airport. Or if you don’t want to take an almost two hour boat ride to the island of San Pedro you can take a puddle jumper. I’m not sure if they are right there at the airport since we took the water taxi. Second once you get to San Pedro you need a golf cart. If you contact Mangata before your arrival date, Jennifer the owner will be happy help assist with setting up things you need in advance. Mangata Inns/Moon Barwas absolutely perfect for our anniversary trip. Once we got there by golf cart Jennifer and her husband and fellow proprietor introduced themselves while we sipped on our “welcome drinks”. They personally showed us to our own personal casita with a nice large king sized bed, kitchenette, bathroom with double sinks, shower and small sitting area with table and chairs for two all tastefully decorated and updated nicely. Jennifer has a book put together with all kinds of helpful information including nearby restaurants and which are their personal favorites, things to do on the island, a “how to” section for the safe and the tv, and misc item. When your driving your golf cart the 6.5 miles to Mangata you may think you picked someplace to far out. Wrong. It’s nicely placed on the north end near excellent restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, and most importantly Secret Beach!!! Jennifer and Justin do so much to ensure you have an excellent stay.❤️"
