We created wonderful family memories. The property was as pictured and as described with all the privacy we wanted. One day we asked the excellent staff to go offsite for the day so that we could feel like we lived there - then we were so happy when Chef came back and made us a late snack at 8pm. We enjoyed the recently renovated spotlessly clean swimming pool and the kids loved fishing off the private pier. We will be back again soon.

Family vacation

We loved having our house with a dock. Lots of fishing with the help of Carlos. Lucita was a wonderful cook. It was a treat to be picked up at our dock for the excursions.

Incredible Stay

Went to celebrate my 50th Bday, we had an absolute blast. Lucita and Carlos were simply amazing and made my bday so special. Lucita even made me the best birthday cake ive ever had! We cant say enough good things about our stay. We cant wait to come back and do it all over again! had.

Beautiful location

Stayed here with my family and had a wonderful time. Beautiful location, private beach area, pool and dock/palapa. The staff are what really made this place special, Carlos, Lucita and Wilfredo became part of the family, they went out of their way to make our time there very special.

Such a great value!

We were really impressed by the staff and how welcome they made us feel. They answered every question we had and helped us at all hours. To have food included in this price was such a great value for our large family. We loved our trip to Escape Away.

Relaxation away from town

Our family of 5 vacationed here for our grandson Spring Break. Carlos and Lucita(hope I spelled her name correctly) were more than friendly and accommodating. Carlos is hard working to keep the ground if the location maintained and does it with a smile on his face. Lupita takes her time making dishes to your family likings including fresh fruit with breakfast in the morning. The property is NOT located in town so if you are looking for a place in the heart of the city/town, then this is not it. But if you enjoy peace and quiet with occasional drives to get to town or Secret Beach then this is perfect for you. I must say Lupita and Carlos are the gems of this property that makes it worth the stay

Girlfriend Dive Trip

House is spotless, super air conditioned, and the meals are amazing. The host/hostess take care of you like family, making sure you have everything you want and need. You have your own dock to enjoy, relax, fish, and be picked up for dives and excursions. The pool is refreshing and kept absolutely clean. This is my third year at this property and will likely continue to be an annual trip. It truly feels like a home away from home.

Christmas getaway

From landing and having the golf carts at the airport ready everything about this house meet and exceeded our expectations! We lived the private beach and dock. The food was always ready when scheduled. We had the tour people meet us at the house to go over a personalized itinery. They picked us up from the dock for the excursions on the Caye. This was an unBelizable time! We look forward to visiting the island and this house in the very near future.

Great Week For Our Family

Just finished our stay here and our family of 4 (2 Teenagers) are walking away with memories to last a life time. Property owner was fantastic at communication, getting our transportation set up to the island and transportation from the airport, everything was seamless. Even had a tour guide come to the property and meet with us to talk about all of our options for excursions - I would highly recommend you do this, we had an amazing time on our excursions. As for the staff I/we cannot say enough good things about Carlos and Lucita. They were wonderful. It was so great having them there. Meals were always on time and as requested, Carlos always had the answers we needed, we loved fishing with him at night off the dock- including catching our own dinner one night!

Relaxing home

Wonderful property. One suggestion, maybe have a list to choose from of meals that are available. We didn't know what to select from. This could be kept in the binder about the property. The meals we had were all delicious and very accommodating.

Beautiful

Our stay was fabulous, the view was breathtaking!!! You could not ask for anything more beautiful.... The cook was so pleasant and the food was great! We are already planning our next trip back to them! Carlos and everyone took care of everything for us! Not enough room to put everything down, I will recommend this place to everyone!!

Wonderful stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Carlos and Lucita were warm and wonderful hosts. Having the food prepared was a huge help and was so delicious. My husband and I came with our 12m old and the house was equipped with a highchair, pack'n'play, and had many little toys. It was perfect. We rented a golf cart for our time there, which is necessary as the house is about 45min from San Pedro town. There are numerous restaurants and grocers much closer though. The beach was kept clean from sargassum even though it was a monumental and never ending task. We have no complaints about the property or our stay. It was wonderful!

It really was an escape away!

We were very happy with our stay here! We loved having our own private beach and having Lucita right there to fix all of our meals we were really spoiled! The staff were terrific and helpful with whatever we needed. Some people may not like that the staff love right there on the property (underneath the main house) but we really enjoyed getting to know them and learning about the Belize culture from them. The only complaints for us might be the golf cart ride from town. We came into the airport right at dusk and the mosquitoes were out in mass! Although I had brought bottles of bug spray for this trip none of it was accessible for this 45 minute drive out to the house and we were eaten up pretty good. So if you are arriving anywhere close to dusk be sure to apply bug spray for the ride to the house.

Splendid Vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the time spent! The staff (Alan and his family) was so warm and accommodating. They provided stellar service and the meals were most delicious! We appreciated their thoughtfulness and kindness which showed through in our interactions. We also used "No Worries Tour" for all of our excursions and their service and expertise were commendable. Mr. Hill and his staff were attentive and made our time enjoyable. The only disappointment we experienced was dealing with the Seagrassum. No one to blame but the condition of our world. They did their part in trying to manage it. We would love to visit again!

Loved our time here!

We had the best time here. What made is special were the wonderful people we met! Carlos made sure we had what we needed and even hopped in the golf cart with us to show us where to meet our fishing guide, and help us find some stores. Lucita was awesome. What a sweet soul and excellent cook! She was so nice to chat with. Wilfredo was so fun. He always had a quick smile and a warm hola for us. My husband loved sitting on the doc fishing with him in the evenings. We really only slept and ate in the house. The beds were comfly and the property suited our needs. I enjoyed sitting out by the pool with my morning coffee watching the sunrise or swinging in the hammock on the dock! We already miss those smiling faces of Carlos, Lucita and Wilfredo.

We had a great time!

While the location was pretty far from town, the privacy of the property was great! We were a group of 4 (two couples) and we used the pool every day and Escape Away Belize had the cleanest beach in the area. We did book a few excursions (snorkel and dive day, and a catamaran sail), but we had what we needed at the property if someone just wanted to chill there the whole time, and the wonderful staff made the vacation memorable. Lucita, Carlos and Wilfredo were awesome, and we’re so glad to have met them. I already miss the meals Lucita cooked. Wilfredo relentlessly cleaned the seaweed from the beach and caught fish for us to eat, and Carlos took the time to hang out with us and share jokes with us in his spare time. My husband and I were celebrating 25 years of marriage, and they created a beautiful space for us on the palapa to have a special dinner. Carlos drove around town looking for decorations, and Lucita picked beautiful flowers for a romantic ambience. The way they care so much to help make memories for the guests is not overlooked and won’t be forgotten!

Honestly loved it!

I had in my mind a romantic get away for two, and that we would have the entire property to ourselves. I also had in my mind that we could shore dive since we are scuba divers. So I booked with these thoughts in mind. To my surprise it went way better than I had planned. At first I was a little sad that people lived there on property but honestly that is the only way that set up can work well. Then after meeting them, I wouldn’t have it any other way. They work VERY hard to make everything perfect. Carlos, Lucita and Wilfredo are the reason this property is so beautiful and amazing. Please bring cash to tip them. They deserve it! Shore diving is not a thing here but I liked that we were offered a boat and cap for scuba. We went with them once and they were good but we chose to go with Castaway for the remainder. They picked us up and dropped us off everyday and took care of cleaning our gear and spoiled us. We like to be pampered. Jerry is a fabulous host. Great communication. He cares about his people and provides a top notch service. We absolutely will be coming back.

Beautiful!

What a wonderful vacation we had. The view from our house was amazing! Carlos was the caretaker of the house and lives on property, he took care of everything for us. He even went to the store for us when we needed more alcohol for us 6 adults lol! Carlita, Carlos’s sister, cooked us meals, but we usually just had breakfast and dinner, if that, since we would go out on excursions during the day. Great private excursions through No Worries Tours who came to the house and got everything set up. We did the Mayan ruins, cave tubing, and snorkeling at the reef. All great! We also went to Secret beach one day, which was fun. X’tan Ha has a cool little bar out on the pier, highly recommend. San Pedro town is quite a distance when you are on a golf cart on bumpy roads, so we did rent a van to take us back to the airport since we had to be there at 6:15 in the morning. Carlos set it up for us with no issues. The refrigerator did break down, 1/2 way through our trip, which was a bummer cause the cooler didn’t keep our beer or leftovers cold. Sadly we didn’t have a working frig until the night before we were leaving. However the next renter will have a brand new frig. Overall, we had a great time at Escape Away. 💗

Epic Girls Dive Trip

Staying at Escape Away made the perfect home away from home for our girls dive trip. They were there waiting for us at the airport to take us to the house in golf carts, the way everyone gets around on Ambergris Caye. It's a fun adventurous ride to the house and you get a flavor of the hustle and bustle of San Pedro along the way. Seven of us slept comfortably and had plenty of room with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Everything is very clean, including bedding, and the towels that were provided. The pool is pristine and a great treat overlooking the ocean on hot days. It truly was a complete vacation with Carlos, Lucita and Wilfredo there to take such good care of us, providing anything we needed and cooking awesome meals according to our taste and timeline. The dock is so much fun to hang out on warm nights with ocean breezes, and you can fish or swim off it. We arranged our dives and other activities through No Worries Tours and were picked up in our own private boat right at our dock. So awesome! Staying at Escape Away just makes everything simple and easy. This is my second stay at the house, and I feel like family there. I plan to make it at least an annual trip. Jerry, the owner, is very quick to respond to emails and answer any questions or issues you may have.

Great Property

Three adults and four kids (9,7,4,1) stayed 1/2-1/9. The house is as described with more than enough room for our group. As noted in the property description and by other reviews, it is an approximately a 40-minute golf cart ride from San Pedro. The distance was zero issue for us as we weren’t planning to travel back and forth to town. Carlos picked us up at the airport and loaded ALL our luggage onto his golf cart. We rented the 6-seat golf cart for the week so followed Carlos to the house. The ride “home” allowed us the opportunity to see San Pedro. Lucita the chef is AWESOME in all the ways and definitely a highlight! She prepared delicious meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner. She asked our meal preference and time we wanted to eat. Breakfast at 8:30? Breakfast was ready at 8:30 on the dot?! Wilfredo worked hard every morning cleaning the beach for us. Carlos arranged for Mr. Hill with No Worries Tours to come to the house to discuss excursions. We did two full day excursions; Snorkeling /fishing/beach BBQ and Caye Caulker/ Snorkeling. Highly recommend both excursions ;tour guides on the boats are fantastic and knowledgeable. Also, excursions are super convenient as they pick you up directly from the dock (palapa) in front of the house. We took the golf cart to Secret Beach one day, which took about 35 minutes on very bumpy roads. Kiddos spent hours on our beach. Pool is clean with great views, chilly as mostly shaded but kids still enjoyed. Lots of pool floaties available.

Don't Be Deceived

My family and I had planned this vacation for over a year and looking at the VRBO listing and the pictures provided and decided that Escape Away Belize was the ideal place for us. I owned a home in San Pedro for 16 years but never realized how far 8 miles north of town this house was.It is a long way especially at night. The photos in the listing were older and the entire house at this point needs attention, they did not accurately portray the condition of the house. The food was adequate and the portions were more than enough for the 8 of us. The pool and the pier were two of the best features of the house. If you do not like dogs this house is not for you. We had a local dog both in and out of the house for a week. We rented two golf carts for the week knowing that we would travel to town often. This was a big mistake, between the two carts they broke down 6 times leaving us stranded in town and one night driving 8 miles without lights. I requested a refund for the golf carts and was told by the owner I would receive one. I am still waiting. To summarize, Ambergris Caye and San Pedro has many beautiful aspects but this home is not one of them. I would not stay here again!

Your personal secluded getaway

I wish I could give 5 stars, but there are a few things to consider. The property itself is brilliant, ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat with incredible weather. However, be prepared to stay on-site for most of your stay. The journey from the airport is grueling, involving a long, dusty, bumpy, and hot 30-minute drive on a dirt road. But once you arrive, you'll find a beautifully maintained property with a private pool offering stunning ocean views, ample lounge chairs, and easy beach access. Inside, the house has a spacious gathering area with a large dining table, comfortable seating, and ocean-facing views. The beds are comfy, A/C keeps things cool, and the kitchen amenities are as described. The highlight is the staff - Carlos, who is incredibly helpful, and the talented chef, Lucita, who prepares exceptional meals. The owner, Jerry, is also highly responsive and caring about your stay. However, there are some drawbacks. We visited during the rainy season, so we expected challenges beyond the property's control. Heavy rain and mosquitoes kept us indoors. The property has tried to combat mosquitoes, but they can be relentless, especially after rain. Bug spray is a must. Additionally, the road to the property is tough, and mosquitoes can be relentless outside until you gain some speed on a golf cart. In summary, if you seek a secluded getaway where you won't want to leave the property, this is perfect. We loved our stay and plan to return.
