The staff is excellent, so helpful and friendly. It is next to Las ramblas and we love being so close to everything. Very safe hotel with a large and varied breakfast. We stay here every time.

This hotel was perfect and around the corner from many great places. Especially near the Mercado La Boqueria. We went there a couple times a day. The atmosphere is amazing. The hotels staff was really sweet, accommodating and friendly. Would definitely return.

Excelent location. Few steps from metro. But the room is poor from the price. The Gallery Hotel which is located in a much more premium area costs the same and it is a hotel boutique.

My stay at Moderna BCN hotel

The hotel is well located close to Ramblas and la Boqueria. Staff is friendly and supportive. Some maintenance may help to improve aesthetics. I reccomend the hotel and certainly would consider it as an option. Breakfast is a good add on.

Pros: Location is superb. 40 min metro(terminal 1 to liceu) from the airport with the metro station a 2 min walk from the hotel. Plenty of places to eat. Market is less than a few minutes away. Staff were pleasant Roof top terrace is a nice touch Although in centre of the city, my room was very quiet. Cons: Room was tiny albeit, it ‘ did the job ‘ Pillows were tiny, could do with bigger pillows. Room didn’t have much natural light. No hotel bar N/A Didn’t try the breakfast Didn’t

Central as you like!

Family Room - Clean, decent size, beds ok, bathroom ok, but bring your own shower gel & gel (pitiful sachets provided). Thin walls, very close to La Rambla - so it's noisy on the street front rooms. Bring ear plugs... Staff helpful. MIcrowave available in public area. Breakfast not bad - got it as an extra 2 of 3 days as we arise early and not much open very near by...

It was overall good, but not great. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable enough and the room and bathroom were a good size. Location right off the Ramblas was the best thing about it. However I fault it for just a few little things such as only having tiny little wrapped soaps and tiny packets of shampoo and shower gell to use. Also the website claims breakfast was included but it was not. There was no boiler or coffeemaker in the room but you could buy a coffee from a machine downstairs. Sometimes they forgot to replenish the tiny soaps. My roommate thought it was not that clean.

Great staff and location, mediocre hotel

The hotel was in a great location. The staff was friendly and did everything to help accomodate us. The air conditioning in the lobby was amazing but lackluster in the rooms. Our visit had 90+ degree Fahrenheit weather and 55+% humidity, so air conditioning was necessary (for us) and I was less than impressed. We had it set to 10 degrees Celsius and it felt like it was blowing tepid air. Also, you use your key card for power in the room, which means if you remove the card, it turns off the AC. There was an incident in one of the rooms next to ours, that I believe, led to some insects gaining access to our bathroom. We spoke to the front desk and they did what they could that night and moved our room the next day when they had availability. They even moved our belongings. The hotel did everything they could to try and make it up to us and were very apologetic. You can tell the rooms get alot of use, but overall it fit the needs of what we were looking for.

Hotel Moderno is an excellent choice for those who dont mind a no frills experience. Its conveniently located right off Los Ramblas and you can get to most other places fairly quickly via walking or taxi. As others have stated the property is dated and furnishing is worn. However everything was very clean. I was not spending much time at my hotel so it suited my needs. The staff are friendly enough but dont expect over the top service or help with recommendations. Can't comment on the breakfast as I did not partake. The area is safe if you take the standard precautions, I enjoyed the nightlife in Gothic, El Born and Raval and would regularly walk back to the hotel after 12 AM. I recommend this hotel for those whose focus is on exploring the city and not hanging out at the hotel.
