Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites

10/10 Excellent

"We had an amazing stay here. The location was beautiful and easy to find. The views were great-- the river in the back and the old train tracks in front (which would have been great for an industrial photo shoot of we had time). It was also central to everywhere we wanted to go near Cherokee and Bryson City. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful-- I accidentally left my portable charger while checking in and didn't realize until the end of my trip. Believe it or not, they still had it!! Breakfast was good, and offered a lot of variety. It was clean and well maintained, with the exception of our last day where it was fairly messy. It was likely due to the number of guests that day, but I also noticed that staff only appeared to replenish and not neaten up as they did on other days. The pool and the gym were nice (we seemed to be the only ones who used them!), though the treadmill did not appear to be working (forgot to let the staff know). Overall a wonderful stay."

"Lisa was great. She was very personable, informative, helpful and obviously working very hard to make up what appeared to be a staff shortage. Disappointed that the pool was not open for understandable reasons. Continental breakfast seem lacking for adults. Receptionists seem to be wearing too many hats and having to leave the desk, which pointed toward staff shortage. Facility was very clean and the housekeeping personnel were very helpful as well as being exceptionally friendly 👌. Room was comfortable and provided all our needs."

"I booked a room on Expedia as a non-smoking king size room. When I checked in they gave a smoking room king size and was told that since I booked through a third party this is what I had to take. Not thrilled and the room and floor smelled terrible. Room service was not offered so I had to beg the staff for clean towels and wash clothes for the second night. Overall the hotel and casino was nice but not thrilled with the resort fee charges that everyone seems to be getting away with nowadays."

"When I first arrived into room ,the floor was not swept,dead flies on window sill,curtains that were not hung properly holes in curtains. No outdoor seats or table like every other room had,had to take next room over when they left.Day 2 toilet was plugged had to ask for plunger and do myself. I was told at check in I would have to ask for clean towels so I knew that.But being reserved for 3 days should not have to ask for more coffee or cups. TV very small to see from beds. I was never asked during my stay ,how was my stay. And they had a small table table and 2 chairs in room ,that were unusable cause they were on side of one of the beds,lol.Never staying there again."
