First, we are saddened to hear you were not happy with your stay. It is true that we had no record of your booking. It appears that you booked, cancelled, and re-booked another date. Somewhere in there we lost track, and that is entirely our fault. When you arrived our first priority was to ensure you were at the correct resort, as people have confused us with other properties in the past. We did have a room of equivalent quality available, and so we were able to atone for our mistake by offering this room. Then, as it was late afternoon, we needed to ensure the kitchen was able to accommodate another three people for dinner, and happily they were. We were mortified at our error in your booking, and concerned about the meal situation, and apologized multiple times for the error and resulting confusion. You did arrive with your daughter, and our online listing explicitly states the room accommodates only two people, not three. This further heightened our concern as we know that 3 people in a room for 2 results in a less than ideal experience. At no time did we consider you an “inconvenience” or “intruding” on our space, and it is unfortunate you mistook our embarrassment at all the confusion for something else.As far as your other comments go, it is true that the room provided had a garden view and not a lake view. But you were able to walk the property, enjoy the view from the garden over the lake, and go out on the dock, as well as enjoy the magnificent view from our lakeside dining room. So all was not lost. All of our rooms are individually and tastefully decorated, so I'm sure your comments on the room's decor were just you blowing off steam. Concerning the dinner, the overwhelming majority of our guests are absolutely effusive in their praise of the meals we deliver. While it is not impossible that yours were not up to our usual standards, that is certainly uncommon. As far as price goes, we are at the low end of what equivalent restaurants would charge, and that is despite our high acquisition costs due to our remoteness.Again, we apologize for having lost the record of your booking, and so would like to offer you a meal on us the next time you are in our area.

Hi James. Thanks for your kind words. The room you booked is the only one without an in-suite bathroom, but even that one is private to the room you were in (not shared). Hope the rest of your travels went well.

Hello Mike. Your review is not entirely fair and deserves a comment from us. The community of Anahim Lake was under an Evacuation Alert at the time of your booking, due to a large and threatening wildfire in Tweedsmuir Park. This soon after became an Evacuation Order and many people were evacuated from the area. You made a reservation on the same day you were arriving, and at the time we were hosting several helicopter crews that were fighting the fire and they had been in all our rooms and several cabins for almost 2 weeks. As there is no cell phone service or Internet access along Highway 20, there was no way to contact you. It is true that we had not extended the closing of our room availability into the day you booked, and for that we apologize. The helicopter crews extended their stay every few days and we reacted to that when they did, however when we went to book off the next days you had already booked (and as I said we could not contact you). When you arrived we made an apology and offered you one of our lakeside cabins as an alternative. However you decided against it. We did describe a couple of alternative resorts you might try that would suit your requirements, and would have called them if you had asked. We are sorry it didn't work out, but it has been a very hectic and unusual summer in the Chilcotin, as much of it has burned to the ground. We hope you can understand the circumstances.
