lovely hotel, our room was spacious with little extras to make our stay memorable.

Good. Shame about payment upfront on arrival as was supprise for wife's birthday with no clue of how much it was. This restricted her willingness to spend on shopping in the City.

We were unhappy with the first room given to us and we asked to move. It was an adjoining room with no privacy as you could hear every word spoken by the residents next door. The staff were very accommodating and gave us a new room straight away, we were very happy with the new room which had a better view, a balcony and we did not hear much noise from the corridor as it had two doors between the room and the hallway. The hotel itself needs a little modernising in the rooms and hallways. The rooms are clean and the bed pretty comfortable. The sea view was great. There was a meal deal for the 1881 restaurant if you booked before arrival of £20 per head for a three course meal. That is good value but the choice was not great and the meals not cooked well from our experience. The indoor pool was nice and jacuzzi even better. We didn't try the outdoor pool but people were using it despite being mid-September. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful though there was a definite pecking order when it came to staff working there as some were bossed unnecessarily. Parking is limited to spaces next to the hotel and part of the car park by the train station. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would go again if in Torquay in future.

Staff is a bit grumpy. A little load but you would expect that over a pub.

The Palace is a wonderful venue. The facilities,although a little tired, are very good indeed. The staff are fabulous, always helpful, smiling and good at their jobs. The breakfasts are very nice too and the service is polite, friendly and helpful. The gardens and garden staff are lovely. It was a pleasure to stay at the Palace Hotel. A few drawbacks may be... the steps in the hotel for disabled guests, very little wifi ( some say that is a good thing!) and the distance from the centre of Torquay.. but these are minor issues. The hotel itself was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of a hotel which gives the feeling of the days when service and facilities were seen as a priority!

Very nice location and hotel was very comfortable. Staff helpful and efficient when we required them. Room and facilities were very good. The only negative point was that the hot breakfast, wasn't. Luke warm, would best describe this.

Hotel, room and food all wonderful, little detail like milk in the fridge was very welcome. The only negative and I felt strongly enough to review was that we were very much looking forward to breakfast so arrive at 8.35am when breakfast began at 8.30am, couldn't get in to main bar and was ignored then grunted at by one of the staff/helpers not in uniform but opened up and turned lights on. Felt I had to apologise for arriving so 'early' for breakfast when it was actually after the start time, albeit by a few minutes. Manager however, was very lovely and very attentive.
