"Excellent location and clean, comfortable room."
This best western is clean, comfortable and a perfect location in downtown Madison. It 'feels' a bit old, but I think the antique gold gates, which are part of the old capital building, make it feel that way. But it is a historical hotel which is great!

"Perfect Stay!"
Hotel was the perfect distance from the Capitol - worth staying outside of the square to save some money. The breakfast was AMAZING - all home cooked food, not your typical hotel breakfast!

"Comfy and contemporary"
We had a great stay at HotelRED from start to finish. We arrived by car and had no trouble parking in the hotel lot (valet was available but we didn't need it). Checkin took about two minutes, and would have been faster if we hadn't accepted the complimentary chocolate and cocktail for new guests (the drink was delicious and refreshing, by the way). Our room was very cool. If I stayed here again, I'd make sure to get a better one, because we didn't have a balcony or a bathtub, but even without those things it was great. One thing I really liked was having a separate interior room for the toilet, inside the bathroom. And the shower was very fancy with jets everywhere that had KILLER water pressure. Bathroom overall was great. Bed was soft and comfy, there was lots of room to put our items and just lounge around in the room while we weren't busy. We didn't use any housekeeping services over the weekend, but the room was very clean and had great amenities. This hotel isn't right smack in the middle of downtown Madison, right by the UW campus--but it's still totally walkable. We didn't drive anywhere all weekend, and it was about a 20 minute walk to the heart of campus. As urban-dwellers, we were very much up for the walk. And Madison is clearly a great city for walking and cycling. Would definitely stay here again if we go back to Madison!
