I can not say enough about the helpfulness of the staff. My first day there I realized I needed dental care and most likely a root canal. I can speak limited German, but I have not learned the vocabulary for root canal or nerve pain. Alexandria at the desk was extremely helpful and was able call around to find a dentist to take me immediately. This was not the job of the hotel, but immensely appreciated.
Quality hotel a few minutes' walk from Mainz Bahnhof, making it a great alternative for overnighting before a Frankfurt Airport departure -- less than 30 minutes by train. Friendly English-speaking staff, modern, and often important, room-controled air conditioning. Consider this a great find, can think of no negatives. Easy walk to Mainz Alt Stadt and shopping/restaurant districts. Apparently standard that all guests receive pass for free use of regional transit system, even including some trains. Pricing reasonable, especially for quality. Recommend it highly.
It's not a fiver star hotel but it's an awesome 4 start hotel for the value. Great location, friendly staff, and clean room. Stayed there for 2 nights while visiting a family member and we were walk to everything in Mainz from this location.
More troubles if you travel with buses at night, since not many lines come close at night.
Try to have included breakfast in your rate, since it will cost you 18 Euro just for breakfast, if paid separately.
This is the 4th time we have stayed in the Mainz Ibis hotel & we always get the best service there. The staff are all very friendly & more than willing to help each time. The hotel is always very clean & comfortable. It is situated in the heart of all the tourist action. Although we don't speak german, the staff were always eager to help us with whatever question we might have in english.
Not only is it on the busy Frankfurt Airport flight path, with flights going over at low altitude from 5am till 11pm but there is no air conditioning so you can not close the windows to muffle the noise either. Also we asked for a quiet room but was placed over the reception, which is lit with neons 24hrs a day illuminating our room throughout the night. To top it all we endured loud groups of guests below our window chatting away till midnight, only then to be woken by revellers returning at 4.30am! Lingering below our window chatting excitedly. Then just as you think you might get back to sleep the flights start. Not our best experience in a hotel, a shame really as the hotel itself is quite nice, the staff helpful and breakfast first class. It's unfortunate it's so noisy. If I had known this I would never have booked it.
