“good location”

The hotel was in a really good location. close to the subway. The room was okay but on the basement level and there was a funny sewage smell in there on the first day. The beds werent the most comfortable but for the price you pay... There was a basic breakfast but it was nice to have breakfast provided.

“Good, clean hotel with friendly staff”

Clean and tidy room, polite and friendly staff, more than acceptable facilities for the price of the room. All of this in a central location with good transport links, would definitely revisit and recommend.

“Don't take the Cat!”

Reception good, quick and efficent. Room clean, but had to move furniture to get to mirror wardrobe, and of course to use mirror. Ensuite facility very bad- to sit on toilet - knee's up or door open or sideways. Couldn't stand front on to wash basin, but could get in the shower, then had to use the floor of it for soaps etc. no shelf or rack! Ensuite facility terrible. So if you want room to " swing a cat "-not for you! If you don't, then 1 Lexham is clean personable and in a good location.

“Maybe on a strict budget and no more than 3 days stay”

Great location. Walking distance from Earl's Court station, on the same line that comes from Heathrow, so no transfers required with heavy luggage. The hotel looks nice from the outside, and the lobby and breakfast areas were cozy, like a large old home. The room was pretty awful, my room was in the basement, # 010. Carpet on the stairs so worn that some steps were "fixed" with masking tape. The room was designed for a very slim person, nice bed, but it barely fit so it was difficult to move around it. The radiator heating was open so it was very hot. I managed to close it otherwise I would have baked there. Two settings, open (extremely hot) or closed, which got quite cool but made it comfortable to sleep. Luckily I could open a window, but could not leave it open since it faced a back alley and had no protection of any kind so I hoped that the area was safe since anyone could have easily climbed into the room, unseen. The bathroom recently renovated but I barely fit in the shower stall, and I'm not big (175 Lbs.) I kept hitting the water tap (faucet I should say) with my elbow and kept turning it to the scalding hot side, and trust me there's no place to run, so you have to be quick with your hands and freeze for a bit untill you found the "sweet" spot again.. The walls were paper thin, and could hear very clearly the couple staying next door... just imagine what I heard... yes it was bad. Their WiFi did not reach the "dungeon" so I could not use it there.

“Good but sound proofing an issue”

Good: A good budget hotel. Rooms/common areas are clean and modern. Good location near Gloucester RD tube station. Reasonable value. Cheap wifi. Cheap breakfast (although didn't try it). Bad: Sound proofing was a big issue for me. I tried 2 different rooms. The first was at the front of the hotel and faced the street. I could hear street noise all night long and couldn't sleep properly. The second room was at the back of the hotel where I couldn't hear the street at all but the separating wall between my room and the one next door was so thin I could hear every word the couple said and they were quite noisy people. I could sleep but only after they went to sleep. Also wifi didn't work in the back room. Overall, put in some sound proofing and Id highly recommend it as a budget hotel!

“room without a view”

We thought we found a great deal when we found this hotel, in such a good location for such a good rate. Should have known it was too good to be true. Perhaps the experience wouldn't have been so bad if we were in a better room, but we were downstairs, below ground floor, and the room was barely large enough for the double bed. The bed felt like springs without a mattress, and the shower didn't drain and pooled up all the time. There was barely any room for two adults in the room, but we made it work. Also, the hotel's wi-fi is only accessible from its lobby and many guests huddled there for internet access. We did not have the included breakfast as it was only continental so cannot rate the food. Location was good, though, thankfully. If we returned, we'd definitely want to pay a lot less for the quality of room we were given.
