"A very special place to stay"
Booked this place as a 25th wedding anniversary surprise for my wife and I and we were both delighted with place. Great location overlooking the bay, nicely kept grounds, pool and very clean and good rooms...however....this was not the best of it! The staff were amazing, we don't normally get to do hotels and the staff here made the experience easy, enjoyable, fun, special, professional at all times while having fun with guests; just the right balance! We chose to have our anniversary meal with them and the food was amazing, they even arranged for their musicians to serenade us by the pool! Even on our last day (booooooo), as we had a late flight home we asked if there is anywhere we could change after lounging by the pool and they were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them and they genuinely seemed to enjoy seeing their guests happy. We will return, as had most of the other guests we met during our stay.

"Friendly staff"
The staff are really friendly and helpful. We booked a Capri tour and had to leave for Sorrento center area early in the morning. The hotel staff arranged the shuttle and also packed the breakfast for us. We enjoyed the stay and the view from the top of the mountain.

Grand Hotel Aminta

Via Nastro Verde 23, Sorrento - Map
We stayed at The Grand Hotel Aminta for a week to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This hotel is just fantastic, the location and views are just brilliant, the Sorrento area is absolutely beautiful. ALL of the staff were so friendly and helpful from the hotel bus drivers through to the management, lovely people! I can honestly say that this was probably our most enjoyable, relaxing holiday that I can remember. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to couples and families alike - there is absolutely nothing I would change about it. The food is wonderful whether from the lunchtime snack menu (best spaghetti carbonara I have ever had ) or from the restaurant for dinner. If Sorrento is on your list of places to visit, Do it and stay at The Grand Hotel Aminta, you will have a wonderful time and bring back some fantastic memories. We are already planning to return later this year.

"Nice central hotel "
Hotel is right in the centre of Sorrento, 1 minute walk from the main square. We were in room 407, which was comfortable, clean and quiet. No mirror by the dressing table, the only English-speaking TV channels were BBC World and CNN, and the shower was prone to flooding the bathroom if you didn't turn it off and let the water drain away every few minutes. Also some of our plugs (standard European pins) didn't fit the sockets. Breakfast was good with a nice varied selection. Sky Bar was nice but closed at 8pm - a shame as the view at night would've been amazing. They also stop serving food at 14:15, which we found strange and a pain when you're at the pool and hungry! Pool was lovely but the chairs around it were very cramped. It also got very busy - we opted to use it after 5pm when it was quieter. Overall it was a good base for spending time in Sorrento and seeing the sights, but not somewhere I'd choose if I was after a more relaxing/luxury break.

"Family friendly and modern hotel"
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed at the Sorrento Palace for 3 nights and really enjoyed our visit. We wished we could have stayed longer in Sorrento. Hopefully the info below will be helpful. Location: The hotel is situated up a hill and about a 10 minute walk down into town. I'd advise taking a cab if you arrive from the train station with luggage. Staff: Hotel has a pick up from Naples train station to the hotel, however a private car transfers would have been less expensive. Nice air conditioned Mercedes mini van! Room: We stayed in the deluxe quad room. It was furnished with a king size bed and 2 single beds. The room was spacious and clean with an ocean view and pool below. The bathroom was large-full tub, walk in shower and good counter space. Breakfasts: Great buffet! Stations for omelets, crepes, waffles. Buffet included cereals, pastries, breads/rolls, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, cold cuts, scrambled eggs. Big bright breakfast area and you can sit outside on the terrace if you want an ocean view. Outdoor Pool: Well designed, younger children could swim and not interfere with adult use. Good restaurant by the pool. There's also an indoor pool, but we didn't use it. Bar area: Nice bar area with a piano player in the evening. I had to smile when he played "That's Amore." Plenty of chairs and couches to relax around. Wifi: Only available in the main lobby and bar area. The lack of free in room wifi is the biggest disadvantage and nuisance of this hotel.

"Good location"
The hotel is on main road out of Sorrento high above the harbour. The hotel is built into the cliff and so you enter at road level (1), reception and restaurant is down at 0, and the bedrooms are on the floors below (-1,-2,-3), the pool is at -4. As far as we could see all the rooms have balconies of varying sizes ours on -1 was a good size for a small table and two chair, -2 seemed to have bigger balconies but can be overlooked by those at level -1. The rooms face out to sea and views are superb, on road noise. The old town is a 20-30 min walk, and the more modern town is 30 mins walk. The port for Capri ferries is another 10-mins. The hotel staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast is a good spread with a cooked option if required. All the staff spoke good English. International TV channels available. Only down side the wi-fi drops our regularly but not a real problem. The restaurant serves a good dinner but we chose to eat in the old harbour plenty of choice just an uphill 30 min walk back!
