This is our loyalty programme which provides members with a range of rewards and benefits. By opening an account you automatically become a member of our loyalty programme.

These Rewards Terms and Conditions explain the various elements of our loyalty programme and will apply to you if you create an Account on Expedia or access your Account on Expedia or another Participating Brand. Use of OneKeyCash is offered by Expedia, Inc. (‘EI’, ‘we’, ‘our’, ‘us’) on behalf of its subsidiaries and affiliates, all of which are Expedia Group companies (collectively, ‘EG’).

Members can participate in the Programmes listed below for each Participating Brand subject to these Terms and Conditions. The terms ‘you’ and ‘your’ throughout these Terms and Conditions refer to any Member.

Points will be earned at the rates specified from time to time on the Expedia Rewards Benefits page located at www.expedia.com.nz/lp/b/exp-rewards-faq

Points can be earned by making an Eligible Booking on the Expedia Site when signed in to your Account as follows:

Eligible Flights
Earn one (1) Base Point for every five (5) Dollars spent on Eligible Flight Bookings booked through the Expedia Site when signed in to your Account

Eligible Bookings (non-flight)
Earn one (1) Base Point for every one (1) Dollar spent on the following Eligible Bookings booked through the Expedia Site when signed in to your Account:

  • Eligible Hotels
Additional hotel terms: Points will be calculated based on the amount paid, including taxes and fees, to Expedia at the time of booking (‘Pay Now’). In addition, if you elect to ‘Pay Later’ when making any property booking, or if payment for the booking is not otherwise made to Expedia at the time of the booking, the amount payable to the property for the property booking as displayed on the Expedia Site will be converted to New Zealand dollars by Expedia for the purpose of calculating the Points. Any amounts payable to the property (‘Pay Now’ or ‘Pay Later’) for ancillary services that are not booked on the Expedia Site (including but not limited to room service, spa services, etc.) are not eligible to earn Points.
  • Eligible Activities
  • Eligible Packages
  • Eligible Cars

Non-Eligible Bookings
Bookings for the following are not eligible to earn Points:

  • Insurance
  • Flights booked directly via an airline’s website, even if your original flight search was conducted on the Expedia Site

From time to time, Expedia may offer opportunities to earn Bonus Points. All applicable terms and conditions associated with the specific Promotional Bonus Point offer must be met in order to earn Bonus Points. Bonus Points earned through a Promotional Bonus Point Offer will be posted to your Account as pending at time of booking and will move to available status in accordance with the offer-specific terms and conditions. Promotional Bonus Point offers apply to changed bookings, as long as the changed booking still meets all requirements and conditions of the offer. Promotional Bonus Point offers do not apply to cancelled bookings. Offers are limited to the offer recipient and are not transferable. Promotional Bonus Point offers are not redeemable for cash and are void where prohibited by law.

Points will not expire as long as you have earned Points on an Eligible Booking or redeemed a Redemption Reward through the Expedia Site on your Account at least once every eighteen (18) months. If there has been no such activity, all accumulated Points in your Account will expire and will not be reinstated.

Points can be redeemed for Redemption Rewards, which are subject to availability and the restrictions of the relevant supplier as specified on the Expedia Site.

Points cannot be redeemed for cash and have no cash value.  Points cannot be combined with any other certificates, coupons, discounts, upgrades, awards or promotions.  Points cannot be redeemed on Non-Eligible Bookings as listed above, or other exclusions as listed under each category below. Redemption Rewards are offered as promotional items and are void if sold for cash or other consideration, or if altered or copied, and cannot be reissued if destroyed, lost or stolen. Redemption Rewards are not valid where prohibited by law.

Members can redeem available Points to pay the partial or full cost of a ‘Pay Now’ hotel, including  taxes and fees. Points can only be redeemed where payment is being made to Expedia at time of booking where the ‘Pay Now’ option is presented.

Points cannot be applied to the cost of cancellation or change penalties, previously paid for bookings, or other miscellaneous charges. Points cannot be redeemed on ‘Pay Later’ properties, or properties offered by Vrbo/Bookabach.

Members can redeem available Points for Expedia coupons in various increments (‘Reward Coupon’) that can be applied to the cost of a package limited to a ‘Pay Now’ Hotel + Flight booked on the Expedia Site. A Reward Coupon will only be able to be issued up to the value of NZ$400. When you redeem Points for a Reward Coupon in your selected amount, you will be issued a Reward Coupon code. The issued Reward Coupon will be deposited into the Member's Expedia Account and can be found on the coupons page in ‘My Account’. The Reward Coupon may only be redeemed by the Member. Any terms or conditions applicable to each Reward Coupon will be confirmed at the time of issuance. Redeemed Points will be deducted from your Account at the time the Reward Coupon code is issued.

Reward Coupons can only be redeemed for packages limited to a booking at a ‘Pay Now’ hotel on the Expedia Site + a flight booked on the Expedia Site, and only where payment is being made to Expedia at time of booking. Reward Coupons will be applied first to the hotel portion of the package, then to the flight portion of your package, less any taxes, fees or charges due on the package. Please note: Any amount of the coupon applied to the flight portion of the package will be refunded to your credit card after your purchase is confirmed, usually within ten (10) business days. A Reward Coupon can only be applied to one (1) package and one hotel room per booking. A Reward Coupon cannot be used for booking multiple rooms on the same itinerary. Reward Coupons have no cash value. Reward Coupons may not be combined with or applied to any other certificates, upgrades, awards or coupons. All taxes, fees, charges and surcharges applicable to the booking, including but not limited to, baggage fees, seat upgrades, extra person, parking, phone and other charges that are applicable to the reservation are the responsibility of the traveller, and Reward Coupons cannot be applied to such amounts. Reward Coupons cannot be applied to the cost of cancellation or change penalties, pre-paid bookings, administrative fees, or other miscellaneous charges. Reward Coupons are void where prohibited by law.

Members can redeem available Points to pay for partial or full cost of a car rental where Expedia collects the payment at time of booking. This is called the ‘Pay Now’ option after you have selected your car class.

Members can redeem available Points to pay for the partial or full cost of an activity where Expedia collects the payment at the time of booking.

4. Earning OneKeyCash (General)

This section will apply to Expedia and other Participating Brands where OneKeyCash can be earned and applies to all Participating Brands where Trip Elements can be earned. Please see section 18 below for further specific terms relating to the earning of OneKeyCash and Trip Elements.

OneKeyCash and Trip Elements can only be earned by the Member who registered for and controls the Account through which any Eligible Booking is made. The Member will earn OneKeyCash and Trip Elements for all Eligible Bookings, regardless of the traveller(s) named on the booking. Additional individuals named as travellers on the itinerary of the Eligible Booking will not earn OneKeyCash or Trip Elements.

To earn OneKeyCash and Trip Elements for an Eligible Booking, you must be a Member prior to making an Eligible Booking and be signed in to your Account at the time of making the Eligible Booking. OneKeyCash will not be earned for bookings made on a relevant Participating Brand when you are not signed in to your Account or if you create an Account after booking. If you use a coupon when making an Eligible Booking, the value of the coupon will be deducted prior to calculating the OneKeyCash earned on the Eligible Booking.

OneKeyCash cannot be earned on taxes and fees. In addition, if any additional amounts are payable to a Travel Supplier at the time of travel, check-in or check-out—including, but not limited to, taxes, security fees or deposits, resort fees, insurance or fuel charges—such amounts will not be included when calculating OneKeyCash (even where such amount is included in the total displayed when booking). No OneKeyCash or Trip Elements will be earned on change or cancellation fees imposed by Travel Suppliers or cancelled bookings or refundable damage deposits. If OneKeyCash is earned on an Eligible Booking made in a currency different to the currency associated with your Account, the value of the OneKeyCash earned for that booking will be converted based on the market exchange rate applicable on the date of booking. You will earn (or not earn, as the case may be) OneKeyCash at the rate of the Tier you are on, at the time of your Eligible Booking.

The amount of pending OneKeyCash and pending Trip Elements to be earned are calculated at the time of making an Eligible Booking and (subject to section 16) are based on the details of the itinerary booked. Changes or cancellations to the booked itinerary may result in differences between the anticipated amount of pending OneKeyCash and pending Trip Elements, and the actual amount of OneKeyCash earned and actual Trip Elements collected for that itinerary. Pending OneKeyCash is not eligible to be used for Redemption Rewards and pending Trip Elements do not count towards Tier status. For pending OneKeyCash to move from pending to available status and pending Trip Elements to move to confirmed status, the Eligible Booking must be Completed (as defined in section 18), and will then be made available in your Account based on the time periods identified in the Posting/Reconciliation charts in section 18 below. Once in available status, OneKeyCash can be used by the Member towards a Redemption Reward(s) and Trip Elements will count towards Tier status.

OneKeyCash is promotional in nature, cannot be purchased directly, has no cash value and may not be transferred to another Member or redeemed for cash under any circumstances. OneKeyCash may not be assigned, sold, transferred and/or pledged by you to any third party. You have no property rights in OneKeyCash. You are responsible for any personal tax liability that may be related to participation in the Programmes and redemption of any Redemption Rewards.

The Hotel Price Guarantee is available to Members. In the unlikely event that you find a lower rate for a hotel you have booked and paid for at time of booking on www.expedia.co.nz, or through the Expedia Customer Support Centre on 0800 998 799, whether on Expedia.co.nz or on another website, we will honour the lower price. Hotels booked as part of a package are not eligible for the Hotel Price Guarantee. The guarantee is subject to these terms and conditions.

Notifying Expedia of a Claim:
You may make a claim under the Hotel Price Guarantee from the time you book your stand-alone hotel on the Expedia Site until 11:59pm local time at the hotel’s location, the day prior to check-in. To make a claim, please complete this form, select your qualifying itinerary and provide details on the lower price found, including screen shots. The lower price must be available for booking at the time the claim is submitted.

Must be "Apples to Apples" Comparison:
The Hotel Price Guarantee is available only for exact itinerary matches, including property, room type, rate plan, applicable refund policy, and the exact same dates of travel as booked through the Expedia Site. The comparison must be to the same hotel purchased stand-alone through another website (i.e. not part of a hotel + air travel package).

The Hotel Price Guarantee applies only to the cost of the booked hotel including any taxes and fees collected by us from you at the time of booking. The Price Guarantee does not apply to any taxes or fees collected by any third party from you, such as those taxes and fees a hotel may collect directly from you when you stay at the hotel. The Hotel Price Guarantee is not available for bookings on websites where the property, itinerary, or similar booking details are unknown until after purchase. You must meet all requirements imposed on the lower price (if any), including, without limitation, residency, regional, and age-related requirements.

Comparison Rates must be available to the general public online:
The Hotel Price Guarantee applies only to prices both advertised and available to the general public on a website. For example, this does not include rates offered on the app; mobile websites; membership programme websites; corporate discounts or rates; group, charter, rewards programme; incentive, meeting, convention consolidator or interline prices; prices obtained via auction or a similar process; or prices available only by using a coupon or other promotion not offered to the general public. The lower rate may not come from a website where you call to get the rate or from an email that you received. The rate must be quoted and booked in New Zealand dollars (and without reference to currency converters).

Verification of Claims:
All requests are subject to verification by Expedia. Expedia will not accept screenshots or other purported evidence of a lower price that cannot be independently confirmed by the Customer Service Centre. Nor will Expedia verify any request that it believes, in its sole discretion, is the result of a printing or other error or is made fraudulently or in bad faith. Expedia will honour the lower price for verified requests. This may happen in one of several ways.

In some cases, it will take the form of a credit to the credit card used for booking. In other cases, it may be necessary for the travel specialist to cancel your booking and rebook your stay at the lower price. You will not be charged any change or cancellation fees in connection with the Hotel Price Guarantee. In all cases, the travel specialist will explain the process to you. Travel must be completed in accordance with the booked itinerary to be eligible to receive the refund or credit. Changed or cancelled bookings are not eligible to receive the refund.

Changes:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Expedia reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify or discontinue the Hotel Price Guarantee or to restrict its availability to any person, at any time, for any or no reason, and without prior notice or liability to you. The terms that are in effect at the time of your claim will determine your eligibility under the Hotel Price Guarantee. The failure by Expedia to enforce any provision of these terms and conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
