We liked the hotel's proximity to the main streets. It was a challenge finding the reception desk. It is actually in a completely different but adjacent hotel. No signage to direct us to it; we had to ask someone coming out of the hotel to guide us. There is a sign in the washroom requesting to only use the hotel's hairdryer but one was not provided (had to ask for one at the reception desk next door). The room was dated but very charming with windows that open to the wonderful mountain air and view!

Alpina is near Tennenhof and i think it’s the same owner. Alpina is old and dark. I booked a room here and don’t know that i need to check in at Tennenhof which is next building. When i got in to the room for half an hour the light in my floor turned down. They sent someone to fix it but it was good for only 10 sec then down again. So they changed our room to Tennenhof which is new and well accommodated. Only thing to complain in this place is the room tis very small I barely find space to open luggages.

One has to check in at an adjoining hotel but the information from expedia does not say this. Room had no number on door so finding correct room was hard. Room tiny with shared bathroom and lavatory on landing. WIFI was impossible to use requiring a photo of a qr card. I gave up after 30 minutes. There was only one usable electrical plug in the room. For the price this place was poor value and is not recommended.

Hotel Alpina is in walking distance of the train station and multiple restaurants and stores, which is convenient. You have to walk on a path off of the street to get there, and I was impressed with how well-lit it was. Unfortunately the hotel itself does not have customer service or a check in desk - we checked in and checked out at the hotel across from it (Hotel Tannenhof), but they make that clear in the check in instructions. This is a good mid-range hotel in Zermatt, surrounded by much more expensive hotels, but still safe/clean and in close proximity to whatever you may want to do in Zermatt. It was suitable for a short stay. The beds are not incredibly comfortable but the hotel is good overall.

Great hotel! I would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again. Comfortable beds and nice bathroom, we even had a balcony. Feels like staying at your grandparents cabin on Christmas… also very central and close to everything!

For a two or three star hotel, this hotel does the job and ranks well with the rating. It has all the functions you need. My room was a cozy cabin looking room. It a 7 minutes walk from the train station and is located nicely with the shopping and restuarnts. For the price it is worth it.

Staff was very nice. This is a no frills place. You pay for a bed and a shower. The walls are super thin and can hear everything going on. Great location though!!

Very nice hotel, very well located
Really nice hotel in Zermatt. The service was great since the check in moment, room was big, clean and huge bathroom, views are amazing. On top of that the breakfast room has really nice views as well as good food. I will come back

The place is great for in and out skiing. Very warm and cozy, would recommend for just sleeping. Not much of room inside very small but feasible.

The room was very nice, not huge but enough for a few nights. Nice swiss chalet/log cabin feel with all wooden interior in the room. Good ensuite and nice shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very warm and turning the radiator right down never fully turned it off so we slept with the window cracked open - which in January at -7 (overnight) outside isn't ideal from a heating/energy use perspective.

Jennifer at the front desk was so helpful and kind! She helped us with everything we asked for. The hotel is old but the rooms are nice, clean and have newly remodeled bathrooms.

A great location, though I will likely not stay here again. Previously, a coffee machine or kettle has been in the room, but not anymore. Primary gripe: housekeeping beginning their day at 07:30 with loud door closing and equipment dropping in the hallways. For the cost of this establishment, a kettle and observed quiet hours are not a tall ask.

Hotel is a 10 min walk from the train station. The rooms are small with no ac. We opened the window to let fresh air in. The restroom sink would give off a drain smell when in use and the shower had no door. Walls are thin, we could hear our neighbors next door. Only Stayed 2 nights and only used the room to shower and sleep.

Would have given more stars if the reception desk was not in another hotel, if there was a refrigerator and if the hallways actually had lights. Very dark when you enter the hotel. Very few amenities.

The hotel is a traditional wooden building about 10 mins walk from the station, located in a quiet area off the main street. My room was quiet most of the time, until people in other rooms started leaving from 6am. Breakfast was good and is taken in the next-door Tannenhof hotel less than 1 min. walk away. Staff were helpful and pleasant.

We had a great experience at Hotel Alpina! The location was perfect and at the center of everything. We didn't realize that our rate included breakfast, so that was a nice, tasty bonus, especially since it included cappuccinos! There was a Nespresso machine in our room as well. The room was clean. We would have preferred a true double bed versus two joined singles, but it really wasn't much of an issue. The elevator was fast, but we had to walk down about five steps to get to our room, so you might need to request an accessible room if you have mobility issues. Note that when we visited we had to check in at Hotel Alpina's sister property next door. It wasn't a problem, except that the sign for this was inadvertently covered up. The staff was friendly and helpful and overall we would recommend it.

The hotel was pleasant and quiet. There was only a hand held shower over the bath. Breakfast was served in the sister hotel next door, which was a two minute walk. The buffet breakfast was nice and ample was available and quickly replenished.
