"A lovely find hidden away off the main street. We only booked the room an hour before arriving but were made to feel very welcome by the young lady behind the bar. Breakfast was cooked by Phil and was delicious and he came out and had a lovely chat with us. I would highly recommend. "

"Outside of the complex is a little tired ,but oh what a difference when you walk into the accommodation. Excellent flat, fully equipped spotlessly clean. Great base from which to explore this part of Devon. Would highly recommend. Lots of steps from carpark to flat so may not suit any one with mobility issues. 10 out if 10 😁"

"We stayed at Upper Instow Beach Cottage (actually a first floor apartment) for a week over Christmas. As it is a historic building it has some quirks but we quickly got used to its 'personality'. If it was any nearer the beach the sea would be lapping at the front door - and with two pubs and a restaurant within 2 minutes walk its a fantastic location. Everything we needed was provided. Furniture and bedding were comfortable and the kitchen was (despite its compact size) one of the best equipped we have come across in many years of renting holiday homes."

"We had previously eaten at this hotel and were so impressed that we decided pay another visit and stay the night. We were not disappointed. The room was excellent. Every member of staff we met were warm and friendly and the cooked breakfast was superb. Appledore is such a lovely destination and a stay at the Royal George makes it all the more special. Everything was very clean and in full working order and it is in a terrific location.The owner was very attentive and helpful with information about what to see and do in the local area, including information specific to our own preferences and responded quickly and helpfully on the occasion when we needed him.I can't recommend this cottage enough if you want a comfortable stay on a great, friendly town with lots to see and do nearby."

"We were hoping for a holiday cottage in a location where we didn't have to drive everyday to be somewhere interesting. Appledore is a perfect little village/town for a quiet holiday but it still feels alive with plenty of people around and activities going on. We enjoyed seeing locals going out on rowing practices in the evenings - I would love to be this close to the see to have this as a hobby. There is a very good selection of well rated eateries - we recommend the Flame Factory and both the fish and chip places. The cottage itself was comfortable and homely. "
