"The hotel is perfect for a beachy, chilled holiday if that’s what you enjoy. The small town has some shops etc which is good and Chania is only a 30 minute drive away along with Souda which are beautiful towns. Especially the Chania markets! A must go to if you love a bargain! The hotel could be somewhat more clear on what is included etc. The hotel is amazing so don’t let that put you off but we were told the tourist charge was €10 euro per room, per night, which is correct but we were also charged extra and we’re unsure really what that was for. Also we have been twice to this hotel, the first time when booking we had the option available to go all inclusive plus but the second time that option wasn’t available until we arrived at the hotel and it was quite steep compared to the first time we visited the hotel and with not much difference to the basic all inclusive package. After all a gin and tonic is a gin and tonic be that from the local gin or branded big name gin. Overall though, lovely place to stay and the staff are amazing! So helpful and super polite! Will absolutely be back again! "

"Quite unique and interesting villa in a quaint little village worth the drive but the grounds around the villa are not looked after at all, the pond with goldfish in it was green and not working, the other pond was even worse. Very limited kitchen facilities, clothes washer and dishwasher smelled moldy, beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. The Dog next door barked a lot all hours of the day and night. The deck boards on the 3rd floor balcony were not attached and moved around when you stepped on them, the other balconies and patios were unusable do to them not being touched or cleaned for some time, debris from trees and bushes littered the entire yard. We didn’t even get the villa we booked and after calling and messaging the owner about the leaking tap which was flooding the kitchen floor he basically said not my problem and hung up on us. What ever you do if your planning to stay in the village stay somewhere else. "

"It is the perfect villa for this price in a beautiful location. The garden and pool are superb, the furniture could be more from this century but then the price would be double I guess. Kalyves is a perfect choice for those who don't like the big cities's vibe. One thing though, the villa is not within walking distance from the beach as written - or prepare for a long hike up to the hill."

"A little difficult to find despite great instructions (we were following Google Maps!) but definitely away from the hustle and bustle which is just what we wanted. Beautifully equipped villa which felt immediately like a home. Delightful pool area just right for lazing all day, and plenty of shade if needed, plus the gorgeous view of the mountains. Only 5 minutes drive from couple of villages with nice little eateries, and 12 minutes or so from Kalives, a small coastal resort with some lovely restaurants overlooking the sea . There was also a good supermarket there. We had a drive around some of the local villages which was interesting too. We had a couple of small issues which were dealt with swiftly and with good grace by the owners. All in all it was just what we were looking for in a week to escape the UK weather and completely chill."
