The staff here went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room is very nice, the bathroom, very modern. The only thing I could complain about is that the room was a little musty smelling because of all the heavy rain they were having. I'm sure that can't be helped, Venice is a really wet place! The bed was very comfortable.

The staff were very nice and helpful. They supported our travel by contacting us before we got in the hotel so that we didn’t feel any anxiety how to get there. We also loved how they prepared our breakfast. It was very beautiful!

Fabulous small and friendly hotel.
Fabulous stay in Venice. The hotel is in a great location, away from the busy/tourist areas (but not far to walk to all the sights). Very clean with a fabulous Italian breakfast. If you like music, Venice Jazz Club is just a few minutes walk away and a great night out. Will definitely stay again.

Home away from h home
Staying at Avogaria feels both peaceful and far away from the crowds and at the same time, a short walk away from everything. My room was like a little oasis and the owners and staff are warm, kind and extremely accommodating. I will definitely stay here again.

Hotel was located in a more residential area of Venice so it was quiet but only a few dining areas nearby. The room itself was well furnished with a little garden area attached to the room. However, the hotel had a very peculiar policy of requiring us to leave the room key when we went out. I was concerned that any staff or other guests had access to our room while we were out. It was also time consuming as we had to go to the front desk every time to drop off the key and pick it up. I would not stay at this hotel for this inconvenient and worrying key issue.

Josè,it is evident that you have never traveled.In all hotels in the world, the room key must always be left at the reception.There is no waste of time because to enter the room, of course, you have to go through the reception.The staff is always in possession of the room keys because, in your absence, they do the daily cleaning.The area is full of restaurants and bars.Before returning, please travel the world for a few years.Best wishes

Lovely period accommodation (it really gets you in the mood for historical Venice), in a great area that also adds to the whole romance of visiting Venice. The staff were excellent and friendly too

Hotel claims to be very up to date very private but we didn’t see this in our stay our room was dated bed was uncomfortable bathroom was wet all the time the water spills everywhere, and there’s no air conditioning only heater. Service is good helpful but just not what is portrayed in the pics.

Dear Daisy, Thanks a lot for your review Let us know what you mean by "water spill everywhere" because we don't really understand. The bathroom has no water leaks. In February in Italy it is winter, the average temperature is 0-5 degrees, so it makes no sense to turn on the air conditioning. The air conditioning is turned on during spring and summer. We also give you some news: in Italy the heating can be turned off and the windows can open. Sincerely

Great Stay
Great location if you’re trying to stay a bit further away from the main hustle and bustle (St. Marks Square area). But, the walk to the main areas are definitely doable. Super friendly and accommodating staff as well. And, there’s air conditioning! Definitely recommend.

Nice area, quite friendly and helpful staff. TV did not work due to a storm (and was never fixed during our stay). Breakfast was ok. The shower was nice, but the bathroom was impractical.

Nice B&B close to San Basillio cruise terminal
Excellent little jewel in a quiet suburb of Venice. It is a 25 minute walk to the tourist area and Piazza San Marco or you can catch the Vaporetto which is very nearby. It is a nice escape from the hordes of tourists that overrun Venice. The room is a solid 3-4 star, not overly luxurious but nice enough. The commercial soap dispensers in the bathroom were an interesting touch :-). The wifi and tv were down and the owner explained there was an area outage. This was no big deal as if you’re in Venice, you should be out walking and exploring. All in all, I recommend the Avogaria if you want comfortable lodging in close proximity to the cruise terminal and enjoy strolling. The staff are wonderful.

Amazing staff, very friendly and accomodating room
The receptionist was extremely accommodating. He made us feel very welcome and the rooms were great for our need. Kettle in the room was a big plus for a group of travellers who just want to unwind with a drink. Cant comment on food as we left too early but would definitely recommend to other travellers.

The room was beautiful... a visual delight with good quality beds.... set up as a twin single ... each bed was small with very little room between. As we booked through Expedia and not the hotel directly we did not have access to all amenities... a first for me.

Avogaria was in a quiet location, yet close enough to walk to places of interest. The staff was extremely professional, patient, and kind. The B&B creatively combines the beautiful old building with modern amenities. Breakfast provided a good variety of choices to start the day, with coffee choices of American coffee, cappucino, espresso, etc. Overall, this is a very comfortable, inviting location that I would highly recommend.

Two nights in Venice
Very friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel is cosy, with only five rooms, and feels like being at home. Very different from large, impersonal corporate hotels. Our room was light and spacious as well as having a small private garden. We really enjoyed our stay and would defiantly recommend it.

Stay away! Descriptions don't match actual hotel
We just completed a 9 night stay (all booked thru hotels.com) in Italy in 3 different cities for our honeymoon. Everything was excellent except our stay in Venice at AVOGARIA LOCANDA. I believe this hotel to be a scam. Here's why: 1. We booked a balcony room 4 months in advance, but when we arrived we were given a room with no outdoor space and were told they didn't even have a balcony room in their hotel. They had us switch rooms the next night (so inconvenient!) for a room with an enclosed patio (still no balcony). 2. The wi-fi did not work in the 2nd room. 3. There was no cooked-to-order breakfast (as seen in hotel description). 4. There was no fitness facility (as seen in hotel description). 5. Our Double bed was just two twin beds stuck together. So uncomfortable. The worst part of this experience is that when we arrived and told them they gave us the wrong room, the manager didn't let us go to any room. We had to wait in the lobby for over 30 min while he sat on hold with hotels.com/expedia to tell them they were wrong (he was never connected to a rep) This did nothing to help our situation. It just shortened our 40 hour stay in Venice. The manager was very rude to us and said we "picked" our room and this was what we choose. However, I showed him my hotels.com confirmation that showed under "room details" we had a "194-sq-foot room with a balcony". Pretty specific if you ask me. We obviously "picked" a room with a balcony.
