"This is a great place for the quintessential SoCal experience! It is right on the beach and provides easy walking access to bars, restaurants, and strolling/biking on the strand. We sat on the beach, walked to coffee shops, biked on the strand, and did lots of people watching. The staff was great and we really enjoyed our stay."

"If you are looking for a little of the Venice (in LA) vibe but would rather be in beautiful San Diego, the Beach Cottages is the place to go. Older property but well maintained and very clean this "right on the sand" option is for you. We stayed in one of the one bedroom cottages and it was just a great place to hang out. We walked to several good restaurants, and did spa treatments all within one block. The property does a great job of providing outdoor showers (to get rid of the sand), plenty of ice, a full kitchen, lots of clean towels, shampoo / conditioner / and body wash. They tell you no air conditioning but the breeze was so cooling we would not have used it even if available. Remember to bring your own beach towels and enjoy!"

"The hotel was very nice and clean, with a good location to the beach. The staff was very helpful and nice. The food and drinks from the hotel itself were delicious (they do have to get some of the main meals from a local restaurant and they are brought into the hotel restaurant). The surrounding areas were not so pleasant. Streets and local eateries were grungy, and many homeless people by the beach areas.. Too bad. But our hotel was safe and secure."
