Staff are useless if you raise any concern. If you're interested in feeling safe during your stay, they will provide no help. I went to the desk regarding a security concern I had and they just shrugged their shoulders. If you're staying here, keep in mind the desk is just there to provide you towels. They do not care about you.

Pretty good value for Tokyo
Good location, 10-15 min walk to Shibuya. Clean and organised. Only 2 showers for the a whole floor isn’t many. Beware if you want to try and check in early, they charge 1000yen. I think this is taking advantage of tired tourists especially when they already have such a late check in time of 4pm. Why not check if the bed is ready and if so, allow someone to check in early. If not, then that’s understandable. The hairdryers are really week and need cleaning or replacing. Staff seemed friendly enough.

I stay here every year when in town visiting family nearby. The first time, I booked the twin bunkbed room for my brother & I. But the next time it was booked up, so I went with the shared dorm room & found that it was fine. The beds are built solidly & fixed to the wall, offering good privacy, a lockable safe & the beds don't creek or shake when people get in & out of them. The mattresses are comfortable & the linen fresh & clean. Location is great. Staff & atmosphere is casual, friendly & accommodating. All in all, a great, convenient place to camp out for a week or two. Thank you.

Great hostel, rooms way too small even for Tokyo
I stayed in a two bed room by myself. Everything about the hostel is great except the photos of my room are completely dishonest. There was literally only enough floorspace to open the door while the photos made it look like there was at least double the space. It made staying or doing anything in the room extremely challenging and uncomfortable.

Hostel has many amenities you need and friendly staff. Convenience stores nearby. Could use some updating, like newer flooring. A 20 minute walk from Shibuya station or 15 minute bus ride so a little bit away from the attractions. The station was a good starting point to many areas and is interesting in itself. Stayed with my 18 year old son for 5 nights and was great experience but a couple of nights too long for me because I felt claustrophobic after three days. Used to North America standards.

On the first night my friend and I arrived at Wise Owl Shibuya, it was their 2nd year anniversary. (Congratulations!) The atmosphere that day was pretty lively with a little party going on. The days after were quite peaceful and relaxing, and we got good sleep every night of our Tokyo trip. The room was clean, common bathrooms were also spotless, and everything worked perfectly well. No complaints at all about their upkeep. The location is also great. A little walk from Shibuya main station or a short train ride will get you here easily. The area surrounded was residential and quiet at night. A few convenience stores nearbybas well.

Second time to this hostel because we absolutely loved it. Has a nice cafe that is open late with drinks. English speaking staff. Small rooms and private bathrooms for all to use. Sort of a Hub for foreign travelers. Great place to meet new people.

Nice and clean hostel
I was happy with my stay at this hostel. The initial check-in experience was alright, but the staffs who were on shift late at night were very friendly and engaging. Overall it felt like a safe neighbourhood, and Shinsen and Shibuya are around the corner. Roomwise, we found the normal twin bunk room to be quite cramped, especially if you have 2 big suitcases. Shower and wash rooms were nicely equipped, and so was the little basket of goodies that the previous guests left for communal use.

Nice vibe with in-house events for occupants. Staff are helpful and friendly. Rooms and cafe are tasteful done up. Only concerns I have are no cold water dispenser at the common areas and the location is abit of a distance (1.6km ok not very far la) from Shibuya. Overall I enjoyed myself there. The hostel is fine. It's more of a capsule hotel. I stayed in their main Tokyo branch, and found it to be much better in terms of proximity to a subway station. This one is quite a distance from a main subway station. Stay in Wise Owl Tokyo (near the Hatchobori station) instead.

As a first-timer in Tokyo, this place wasn't too hard to find. Checking in was easy and the staff was nice. They had a cafe downstairs, but I did not utilize since I was here for two nights and was out in the mornings and back later in the evenings. This hostel is about 15-20 minutes or 10 min bus ride near main Shibuya crossing. Bathrooms are super clean. The two nights that I was here, everyone seemed to keep to themselves. The beds were comfortable enough. Space-wise, I thought my area was a bit cramped. The area that I was in, the people left their luggage against the walls and made the walking space much narrower than it needed to be. Overall, I had a great two-night stay here.

There are better hostels around.
After staying at the amazing sadou hostel in Ueno, I came to this place and I was really let down. The picture give you the impression of 4 bunk beds per room or round that, no, you’ll instead be lumped in a dormitory of 28 people! There is no safe place in the dormitory to lock up large possession and where I was there wasn’t even really room to put it on the corridor without it becoming a hazard, the only option is to keep it at reception, but then will you keep going down for valuables or changes of clothes? No breakfast or food provided, though they would bring it in eventually? Some shelves held up with gaffa tape, and security doors constantly left open by guests. Staff, while helpful, seemed largely unable to help as couldn’t hear you over loud music they would play. Good beer in the mother bar though, for 500 yen. Beds were comfy, if a little bit cramped then other hostels I’ve been to, and wasn’t provided with fresh towel on daily basis as other places too, they’re an extra apparently, but maybe that’s me. Washing machines only held on 2nd and 3rd floor, with not much places to wait, so you’d leave your things at risk, even then, the drier didn’t seem to dry properly and there wasn’t even really anything to hang your clothes to dry. There was a rack, but only came up to my shin. Location wise it’s great if you don’t mind walking 20 mins to shibuya station, so it’s great for that, also some nice restaurants nearby especially ramen.

Very good value to price!
The hotel is located in a walk distance from Shibuya station. The staff is very nice and communicative. Facilities are very clean and easy to use. Beds are comfortable for sleeping, less for handling your luggage (especially if you are in the top floor, luckily I got the lower one). You may encounter other nice travelers from all over the world to have a nice chat with them at the lounge. However, at least in my experience, there were also guests who were noisy at nights - so make sure you're equipped with earplugs. Overall - it was a very good stay. If you are ok with the described above, go for it!

Too many fake reviews
This hostel's FakeSpot.com review rating is F, which means most of the reviews are fake. This is the worst rating that I have ever seen. Not as noisy as other reviews say, but the hostel's non-welcoming and uncomfortable atmosphere made our stay very tiring. Overall, the hostels cleanness is average, except the floor is a little dirty.

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at!
This hostel was amazing! The staff are very friendly and super helpful whenever I needed help. My bed was actually comfy and the mixed dorms were laid out in a way where you got a lot of privacy. I was so sad to leave but I will definitely be staying here next time I’m in Tokyo!

Very fast and convenient check-in. I actually had an early arrival, so they held my luggage for me and everything was safe and sound! Hotel staff was kind and the rooms/bedding were very clean. The "shared" showers/bathrooms, is actually just a hall with separate small shower rooms etc. Nothing to worry about there if you were anxious about some privacy. Only was here for one night but had a great experience!

Staff were friendly but room is not at all ideal
I did not have a good experience with the stay even though the staff were awesome. The room that I got was a private room with a bunk bed and the room was so small that there is no room for you to even open your suitcase to unpack your stuff. On the bed, there is a small locker where you can store small items. However it is full of dust. The location is pretty hard to find. You either have to take a bus from shibuya station or walk at least 15 minutes to get there. You are only provided with a towel, so you gotta buy the toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. yourself. Bathrooms are separated and they are decent. The room rate is pretty pricey for a hostel, but I can understand that it is near shibuya station. I would choose capsule hotels over this considering the price is more competitive, location is more convenient, cleaner environment and you have more privacy there.

Great affordable place to stay in Shibuya
Very much enjoyed my stay here, it's about 15 mins walk from Shibuya station which will very easily take you anywhere in the city. The space in the dormitory is quite small but the beds are very comfortable and the facilities are kept very clean. Great staff as well!

Love this hotel
The hostel is very convenient and the staffs are friendly. The bed are also comfy. I really love this hostel.

Great place to stay
Wise Owl Hostel was a great choice for us in Tokyo. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a small twin room and it was indeed small. Storing luggage was a bit of an issue but we managed. The large twin room would have been more convenient but they were already booked. The bunk beds were extremely solid and the mattresses were excellent. There are several convenience stores in the area and we often picked up food to eat back at the hostel. Otherwise there weren’t a lot of little restaurant choices nearby. The only downside was location. Shibuya Station is a mile or so away and we took a bus to and from for ¥220 each trip. Buses run every few minutes. With our JR train passes that was really our only transportation cost.

Must go. Best time because of this hostel
First time in Japan. It was already a learning experience trying to find the hostel but after a couple tries it’s very easy. The best thing I can say is stsying here allowed me to meet many other travelers and even locals. This really does help make the trip more memorable and made my whole trip. I will definitely come back!

Great location, not-ideal for light sleepers
As one of few affordable hostels in central Shibuya, it certainly served it's purpose - a place to crash and not have to worry about catching the last trains in Tokyo. Pictures describe the location quite accurately. What's not advertised is regarding early check-in. It is possible, but the hostel will ask for an ¥1000 payment for their staff to prepare your room immediately - and this early check in is also only available between 11AM - 4PM (as after 4PM, standard check-in is available). They do allow storage of luggage, no cost, on the day of check in and out, so if you just need to drop your stuff off, it's great. If you're looking to actually take a nap after a red-eye early morning flight, unfortunately you won't be able to do so before 11AM. The hostel itself appears to be converted from some sort of apartment or small office of sorts - it's actually quite narrow, about 6-8 stories high and shaped like a triangle wedged in between a fork in a small road. Because it's next to a road, and this being Shibuya, you will hear a lot of traffic, cars, trucks, horns, and basically any car that drives past. Not ideal for light sleepers!

Best Hostel in downtown Tokyo
Staff was very helpful! Yuriko explained all the rules and policies in perfect english! The location is only 10 minute walk from Shibuya area! Would definitely stay here again next time in Tokyo!

Bed is very comfy!
It’s my first time staying in a hostel like this, having a private bunk room to myself. Room is small, that’s why you get it cheap, but the bed is more than sufficient for 1 person, can even squeeze two people! Bed is extremely comfy, toilet and showers are kept very clean! Staff is very friendly and is very good in English, no problem communicating at all. The only slight issue I had was because the room is really small there isn’t space to put luggage. It’s only a one night stay for me so it’s excellent as I barely had much luggage. But if I have to stay longer then I will think about it because I prefer having space to keep my luggage open in my own room for convenience sake! However it is really very worthwhile! I really had a good night rest. Thankyou for the hospitality!
