The Space:
Desert Sky Hideaway offers style, comfort, and convenience in a rugged and scenic desert setting. Visit Big Bend National Park, Terlingua, Rio Grande, and Big Bend Ranch State Park for endless adventure. Stay at Desert Sky Hideaway for air-conditioning, hot water, grid electric, high speed Wi-Fi, spacious kitchen, relaxing living room, large dining table, three bedrooms with comfortable beds, two full bathrooms, and a shaded patio.

Three Bedrooms to sleep six guests in comfort on high quality beds and fresh linens. The king bedroom is spacious with excellent views. The queen bedroom is a bit small but well appointed and comfortable. The twin bedroom has two twin beds.

Two bathrooms with hot water, flushing toilets, and sinks. One bathroom has a tub and shower combo. The other bathroom has a shower.

Spacious kitchen with gas oven and stove, fridge, microwave, and stocked with dishes and cookware. Everything you need to prepare a meal or a quick snack.

The dining area is open to the kitchen and the front living area. It features a large table the seats six comfortably. The perfect place to socialize with family or friends.

There are two living room areas. One is open to the dining area and kitchen. The other is in a separate room with plenty of space to relax.

Conveniently located just a half mile from the Terlingua Ghost Town and ten minutes from the western entrance to Big Bend National Park. Desert Sky Hideaway is an excellent home base for your Big Bend adventures.

  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

We hiked further than the 0.7 mile indicated on the signage, and ended up scooting and scrambling up the most interesting narrow and smooth chutes. We heard the song of the elusive canyon wren, too. This was a great location for family visiting the area for a wedding. The home has a perfect layout, beautiful morning sunrise view and nicely stocked with needed items. The road in is a treat! Host is very responsive and helpful.

Great weekend stay

Awesome stay in Terlinqua

If you want a nice place To stay with all the amenities, stay here! We were 2 couples traveling together and the set up was perfect. The house is super comfortable and in a great location for the park and local restaurants! 15 minutes to the park and recommend El Gordon’s Food truck for great Mexican food!

Perfect hideaway close to Terlingua

We were so close to Terlingua that we could even walk there if we didn’t feel like driving downtown, but far enough that you can have total peace and quiet. The sunsets from the front porch were spectacular and we saw so many stars at night…this perfect hideaway was just what we needed for our weekend getaway!

Needed a place to stay during a days of work in Terlingua and it was great! Hosts were accommodating, easy to get a hold of and I felt comfortable and safe at this location! Perfect for our family of five in terligua

Terligua is a very unique place with lots of unusual housing. Our family of two adults and three teens was very thankful to find this very comfortable house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We had a hot water heater issue and the management had it solved within an hour. I'd definitely stay here again!

Great house, wish we could have stayed longer

We enjoyed our stay. The house is as pictured (the showers are industrial-style, but this was not a surprise). We ate at Spicewood Restaurant in Alpine when we stopped for groceries and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately and unrelated to our stay, our dog ran away and we had to end our trip early to drive home and look for him (we ended up finding him in a bayou!). The house has amazing wifi, which helped when I was posting all over to try to find him. It's also super convenient for entering Big Bend. We hope to return some day.

Spectacular Sunrise Views

Clean, Secure, Spacious, Quiet, with unexpected amenities. Fuel, small grocery store, laundry-mat and auto service short drive to Study Butte. Host available to provide local assistance guidance if needed. Too many places and events to explore and experience during a short visit to the Big Bend Region. Will be returning. Kudos.

Adorable House in Terlingua

The house was just as described. I enjoyed the openness and decor. We had everything we needed to make breakfast, stay warm and cozy and enjoy our stay. The rooms had good storage for luggage and bathrooms were nice. The only complaint from our 3 night stay was the mattress in the guest bedroom being uncomfortable, but that also might be person preference instead. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. It was very close to places to eat and the National Park.

Cool Terlingua Home

Desert Sky Hideaway is a cool property. The house perfectly fits the vibe of Terlingua and the surrounding desert beauty. It was clean, quiet, well-appointed, and large enough to spread out. Big Bend National Park was a short drive and local eateries were within walking distance. The management company was accessible. They also provided thorough check-in directions and instructions.

The Great House

My siblings (all great aunts and uncles) were very comfortable staying here. Many other family members- 34 in all—were scattered around in the Big Bend area. We were centrally located and convenient for pick ups and drop offs. Instructions for arrival were clear and straightforward, as were instructions for checking out. A couple of water issues were remedied right away. Owners were pleasant and easy to deal with. We’d certainly stay again!

Big Bend Motorcycle Trip

This was the perfect property for our Big Bend Vacation. The road to the property is a little surprising as it just follows the natural terrain which is a little up and down. Any car will make it but it’s a little interesting with a long trailer. The home is a little austere but very clean and perfect for the setting in the West Texas desert. A couple of things to know: Terlingua is a dark sky friendly community so it is very dark in the area in general, makes it interesting when trying to find places at night including the Desert Sky Hideaway; water is scarce in the desert so the showers in the home are designed to conserve water. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice spot in Terlingua

Desert Sky Hideaway is a very nice, modern home with the perfect set up for a group of friends or family looking to spend some time together. Very large and open kitchen and living areas allow for maximum gathering space. Location is close to BBNP, all things Terlingua, and even Lajitas. It’s a good mid point base station for all the area’s activities. While the home is situated amongst other dwellings, it is somewhat nestled amongst the dunes making it feel more isolated and private than it really is. Star gazing out front is phenomenal as are morning sunrises on the front porch. Experience with property management was all positive. Would definitely recommend this one based on our numerous stays in the area.

The house was close to all of our destinations: Big Bend NP, Big Bend Ranch SP, and Terlingua Ghosttown. The house was very clean and had room for everyone to sit and eat and play games together. Also, had a great view of the sunrise and night skies.
