Taormina City Centre Hotels, Taormina

While Taormina City Centre is unique, the closest experiences you'll find to its sophisticated charm and convenient access are in Ortigia (Syracuse) and parts of Cefalù.Ortigia, the historical heart of Syracuse, offers a very similar feel to Taormina City Centre. It's an island connected by bridges, with a pedestrianised main street, Corso Matteotti, lined with boutiques and cafes. The Piazza del Duomo, a stunning Baroque square, is the focal point, and the narrow, winding alleys are full of restaurants and artisan shops. This area is superb for couples seeking a romantic setting with history and excellent dining.Families will also appreciate Ortigia for its contained, walkable environment and proximity to the sea. There are small beaches and swimming spots easily accessible, and the compact nature of the island means children can explore without venturing too far. The blend of historical sites like the Castello Maniace and vibrant local life provides plenty to see and do.Cefalù, though smaller, also shares characteristics with Taormina City Centre, particularly its old town area. Nestled at the foot of a dramatic rock, Cefalù's historic centre is centred around its Norman Cathedral and extends down to a sandy beach. The main street, Corso Ruggero, is a hub of activity with shops and eateries.Cefalù is an excellent choice for couples who enjoy a mix of culture and relaxation. You can explore the mediaeval streets, visit the Cathedral, and then spend the afternoon on the beach, all within easy walking distance. The views from La Rocca, the large rock overlooking the town, are spectacular. For families, Cefalù offers the convenience of a town with a beautiful, child-friendly beach right on its doorstep.
