  • Last night we went to a Taoist Temple in Taipei. You can see in the close up picture of people praying how they receive and answer immediately from the prayers. After kneeling and bowing, you throw two "stones" onto the floor. They are both crescent shaped with a sun and a moon side. If they end up both on one side, the answer is NO. If they end up both on the other side, the answer is maybe, or not enough information. If the end up like a ying and a yang, then the answer is YES. I took a moment to pray, asked my question and got a ying and a yang out of the throw. The belief is, that the result comes from within your own heart.

Hotel is about 45 minutes from airport. Barebones at best. Reserved a 2 person room and very small. Obligatory 2 pillows with no extra. First night-no hot water and in general shower water pressure is low. No shower curtain or cover so water gets everywhere. There is a buffet type breakfast with basic dishes. Dining areas were clean and tidy. Cappuccino machine available. Staff was nice and polite and no hassle with check in it out.

Close to Songshan Airport

This time, the reason of staying there was just its closeness to the airport, but usually I stay a little longer for street-food hunting. It's a wonderful place for that purpose, and I'd like to come back and stay again.

Very old hotel

Clean. Old door with key, not sure if it really locks well. Show water, the amount is unstable. Bad is very hard. Door, table, bad etc. cheap and temporary.

The location is excellent. The interior is a bit dated but high quality and clean. Staff was friendly. Check in was quick, and all I had to do for check out was dropping the key. The bed was comfortable (a bit on the hard side), aircon worked well and was reasonably quiet. The shower had good water pressure and hot water with no issues. The refrigerator also worked well. I did not use the TV. The 7th floor I stayed on offered no noise from the street and a good view. Two things to consider: 1. The soundproofing isn't great, if there are loud people in the corridor (or perhaps in an adjacent room), you'll hear them in your room. This could be a concern if the hotel were fully booked, which it was far from during my stay. 2. There were only 2 power sockets in the whole room. Perhaps the reception can lend an adapter or an extension cable, I didn't ask. These are minor things though. Overall, it's great value for money, and I'd absolutely stay there again next time I visit Taipei.

6月7日から4泊利用しましたが、普通のエコノミークラスのホテルでした。 ただ、リノベーションはしてありましたが古さは否めず、特にバス、トイレがもう少しどうにかなれば良いと思います。シャワーカーテンのレールはあるのですがカーテンが無く、シャワーを浴びると洗面台の下がビショビショになってしまい、要改善ポイントだと思います。 あと、チェックインの際に何の説明も無く、部屋にも簡単な照明の説明しかなくいささか不安を覚えましたが、格安ツアーで来られている日本人もいて寝るだけであれば問題無いと思います。 ホテルビュッフェは無かったと思いますが、近くに食べる所はいくつかあり、夜もチェーン店で食べることも持ち帰ることも出来ますので、駅も遠くなく立地としては悪くないと思います。

古いホテルだか清潔にしてあるのでお値段重視の方には、良いと思う。 設備の面では、日本人には不便だと思う点がトイレと部屋の鍵がカードキーでなく、昭和の部屋の押しボタンの鍵の部屋に割り当てられる事があるという事である。 部屋の値段は早期割引とかではなく、値段で部屋のクオリティが変わるので11階になる良い部屋はカードキーでウォシュレットになり、安い部屋は入り口のドアが昭和の鍵になり、台湾トイレになるという事である。 予約する時は確認したほうがよい。 もっとも11階の部屋の値段なら、他にもホテルはある。 もちろん昭和の鍵は外出時にフロントに預ける事になる。そしてフロントの質に格差があるので割り切れる方向き。
