This quirky New Hampshire amusement park has classic attractions based on favourite childhood fairy tales rather than futuristic rides and special effects.

For wholesome fun for the whole family, visit Story Land. This amusement park in Glen, New Hampshire mixes beautiful natural scenery with whimsical attractions inspired by fairy tales.

Step into the fairy-tale dreams of Bob and Ruth Morrell. Using several traditional German dolls as inspiration, they decided to build a storybook village. This soon expanded into a full-fledged amusement park. In 1954, Story Land opened its gates to the public.

Visit the homes of fairy-tale favourites such as Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard and the Three Bears’ House. Take a ride in Cinderella’s pumpkin coach or spin down the rabbit hole in Alice’s teacup. You can also go on traditional amusement park rides including a carousel, a Ferris wheel and wooden roller coasters. If it’s a warm day, splash your way through the water rides.

Given its unusual history, you can expect Story Land to be full of quirky attractions. Visit the octagonal chapel tucked amid the rides. In the farmyard, see animals from fairy tales, such as the Three Little Pigs and Baa Baa Black Sheep. As you walk around the park, you’ll run into Mother Goose, Cinderella and other life-size storybook characters.

If you get hungry, select from several restaurants and cafés scattered throughout the park. You can also bring your own food if you prefer.

Visit Story Land between the end of May and mid-October. It is open every day of the week during summer, with a weekend-only schedule at the beginning and end of the season.

Find lots of free parking near the entrance of Story Land. Guests with motor homes are welcome to park their vehicles across the street in the North Parking Lot.

Purchase a general admission ticket online or at the gate. This gives you unlimited access to the park’s rides, shows and attractions. The “final three, next day free” ticket is another popular choice if you enter the park during the last three hours of opening, you’ll receive a free pass to come back for any other full day in the season.
