The Oakwood Hotel
8/10 Good
"Not a great start as i do not like Hotels that charge for parking unless its a City Centre location.....the Car Park here is huge. Even less impressed that i had to use an App to pay for the parking.....The fella on reception helped me sort it and things improved. Lovely Air Conditioned Bar and although the rooms did not have Air Con it was a huge benefit for us in the hot weather. The food was superb and the friendly service provided by Donna matched the quality of the fare. I will be back."

"Always our go to family hotel whenever we are in South Wales. Clean facilities, top of the range customer service. The breakfast is also very exemplary with lots of options only downside is felt like they were rationing some of the pastries as every time we went to get some croissants they were gone and had to keep requesting the chef to add and then they were gone again, happened on two occasions. Other than that we enjoyed our stay."

"Set in beautiful grounds, good hearty breakfast clean bedding and towels. Hotel is a lovely old place and would benefit from a slight redecorate. Carpets need to be cleaned at the edges if this was done then 5 star from me. I will stay again next time I am in the area. Good night's sleep on very comfy beds"

"Comfortable bed in a relaxing room. Spa with good steam room and sauna, plus access to sunloungers on the terrace in the garden. Very good evening meal and brakfast and Staff all very helpfull."

"Stunning venue for a beautiful wedding. Slightly disappointed that we paid extra for a junior suite and didn’t even have a bottle of water each in the room. It was 30degrees and I will say thank god for the Dyson fan in the room - that was very much needed!"

"It is on the outskirts of Gloucester, so was a great location to access the motorway. We enjoyed a good evening meal and took time to use the pool and spa. Paying for parking was the first thing you have to do, before anything and is a negative impact on check in. We had to call reception st midnight as there were people drinking ans shouting outside but they dealt with it straightaway."
