"I stayed here for a 3 day event at the NEC - location is perfect, a 3 minute walk from the NEC / train station / airport. The hotel itself was ok - the refurbishment was quite disruptive, so the restaurant / bar area was not very conducive to a restful evening. However, it is ideally located for the Resort World area, so you can easily have other options. Also, the 24hr menu was a bit poor - there are only 4-5 options available. The staff are what makes this hotel special - they were amazing, Tracy in the breakfast area and her team are what made this special for me! The Reception team were also incredibly helpful and the contractors carrying out the refurb were polite and friendly/ The room itself was overpriced - I paid extra for a "family room", which wasn't any larger than a standard room! The photo and description stated there would be a desk and proper chair for working at, but this was a rickety tiny round table and a tubular chair. The bathroom was tiny, and there was no full length mirror in the room. There was no water or anything available, although there was a mini fridge (not very cold). Considering the price of this room (top rate), a little bottle of water or something would have been appreciated. All in all, you are paying the price for the location, not the actual amenities."
