"Beautifully situated on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake, Wantandleth lodge was clean and well equipped and the bed was very comfy. Wifi was good and shower was lovely. I just couldn't get the front door to lock with the key at all, so felt quite insecure for the weekend I was there, I could see how it SHOULD lock but it wasn't having it. I was disappointed that I couldn't get down to the lake easily with my walker or mobility scooter as the paths are so gravelly its no good tying to get anything with wheels over them other than the car. Was a lovely view though from the property, very peaceful and quiet with lots of birds and trees around. Although the decor is very dark and dated it was cosy and despite the crazy internal door configuration from bedrooms to bathrooms I would highly recommend this property to anyone with better mobility than myself."

"A wonderful little B&B. The bed and wardrobe were a little small but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a full sized bath and excellent powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Lovely selection of toiletries provided and tea/coffee making facilities. Delicious breakfast with plentiful options. Very central location - highly recommended. "

"Clean nicely proportioned room, comfy bed, nice cotton bedding, soft towels. Good shower with lovely hot water. We had a delicious evening meal. Breakfast was really good too. Good service. All cooked to order. Our dog was made very welcome. We recommend without hesitation. "

"Rooms require some repainting and stairwell is very dull and dark with most windows needing repair and repainting. The cocktails were fantastic though. As the restaurant closes early it would be nice to have cheese and biscuits available in the bar area in the evening "

"The breakfast menu was really good , The staff were all amazing apart from one in the last couple of mornings at breakfast. Plenty of lovely sitting areas throughout the hotel The room we had was lovely and comfortable, due to the revamping of the hotel its not as clean at it could be. But we had an amazing four days We will be going back. "

"This is a wonderful property with lots of historic charm and stunning scenery right on the doorstep! I stayed 4 nights and Karen really looked after me; delicious cooked breakfast each morning and a newly lit fire in the evenings to sit beside. She gave me a tour of her gorgeous garden and introduced me to her feathered friends; the chickens, cockerel and pheasant as well as her lovely dogs. Her knowledge of the house and area is really insightful and Karen was more than happy to advise where needed. Powter Howe is easy to find, has plenty of space for parking, and offers fantastic views facing the Skiddaws and Barf behind it. There is also a lovely short walk from the house and through woodland to Bassenthwaite Lake. Although the A66 can be heard it doesn’t detract from the beauty of the place. I would definitely recommend a relaxing stay at Powter Howe and hope to return again very soon myself. Thank you Karen, for making me feel so welcome and at home."

"Great facilities, well situated in Keswick. Parking might be a bit of an issue for some. Small on site car park. Overnight on street possible. Fabulous breakfast. Lovely staff. Would definitely stay again "
