When is the best time to go to Shikiya?

The best time to visit Shikiya is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) months, when the weather is pleasant and comfortable for exploring. Spring in Shikiya offers warm temperatures and less humidity, superb for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat of summer. You'll find the flora blooming, adding to the scenic beauty of the island. This period is ideal for couples looking for a romantic escape, with opportunities for peaceful strolls along the coast or enjoying al fresco dining. Autumn also provides lovely weather with comfortable temperatures and clear skies, making it another excellent time to visit. The typhoon season typically winds down by September, and the sea remains warm enough for swimming and water sports.

"Only stayed one night on arrival in Okinawa before going to OIST, but the room was immaculate and comfortable, and large compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Japan. Location is great, close to the airport, monorail stop, and across the street from a shopping mall. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was fresh and delicious. I would definitely stay there again if in Naha."

Hyatt Regency Naha, Okinawa

10/10 Excellent

"Location was great for a short trip - close to shopping areas and monorail for further afield."

Hotel Nikko Alivila

8/10 Good

"A lovely beach front location, hotel is a little tired in places and could do with a freshen up. Staff are very polite and friendly despite English not being spoken. Several restaurants to choose from but none for snacks and so expensive. There is no bar but they do offer evening drinks after 9pm following a restaurant closure. A few local alternative eateries are in walking distance but not many."

RIHGA Royal Resort Okinawa Chatan

10/10 Excellent

"A super-clean, spacious, thoughtfully-designed suite with a small kitchen & a washing machine inside each room. The hotel is located next to American Village, but the room was quiet. Breakfast buffet included made-to-order omelet station, and the restaurant offers very delicious dinner. The rooftop infinity pool is beautiful, but it costs extra 2,000 yen, so we didn't use it."

Hotel JAL City Naha

10/10 Excellent

"My parents need to stay one additional night due to typhoon. They let me know how happy they are with the hotel services. My parents are old, have back problems and cannot speak japanese or english. The helpfulness of the staffs made my parents felt at ease in such an unfamiliar environment. Thank you!"
