The best area to stay in Serrières is within the village centre itself, particularly around the church and the main square.

This central area is the heart of Serrières, offering a traditional Burgundian village experience. You'll find charming local shops, a boulangerie for your morning pastries, and a few welcoming restaurants, all within easy walking distance. The architecture is typical of the region, with stone houses and narrow, winding streets that evoke a sense of history.

Couples looking for a peaceful and authentic French countryside escape will find the village centre ideal. It's great for leisurely strolls, enjoying local wines, and experiencing the quiet rhythm of village life. You're also well-placed for exploring the surrounding vineyards and the scenic River Saône.

For those prioritising convenience and a central base for exploring the wider Bourgogne region, staying near the village centre is also perfect.

The best time to go to Serrières is during the warmer months, specifically from May to September, when the weather is most agreeable for exploring the region.

May and June offer pleasant temperatures, usually in the high teens to low twenties Celsius, and the countryside is lush and green. This period is ideal for outdoor activities like cycling along the canal paths or enjoying leisurely walks through the vineyards, without the peak summer crowds.

July and August are the warmest months, with temperatures often reaching the mid-to-high twenties. This is great for enjoying the local markets, dining al fresco, and taking boat trips on the River Saône. Families often find these months particularly appealing due to the longer daylight hours and the opportunity to enjoy water-based activities.

September is also an excellent choice, as the weather remains mild, and the grape harvest (vendanges) begins, offering a unique opportunity to witness this traditional activity. The autumn colours start to appear, making for beautiful scenery.
