Sanur Beach may only be 15 kilometres from the high energy buzz of Kuta Beach but it feels almost like another world. Despite being one of the island’s first resort areas, Sanur Beach and village has retained its laid-back, easy-going atmosphere making it a firm favourite with holidaying families and couples seeking the quiet life.The beach is renowned for its sandy shoreline and calm waters. Having managed to preserve much of its Balinese character, it’s quiet and uncrowded atmosphere make it an ideal base to return to after a hard day’s sightseeing. There is also a good selection of restaurants serving excellent seafood.If you wish to top up your cultural batteries, visit the Le Mayer Museum situated right on the beach. Converted from the home of Belgian artist Adrien Jean Le Mayeur De Merpres who lived and worked here for 20 years from the 1930s, the museum is now run by the Indonesian Government. In July each year, Sanur becomes host to the annual Bali International Kite Festival. The sky fills with kites of all descriptions as the locals relax and enjoy the fun.
