It’s what you make it. Indonesia is a developing country and has all those things that are associated with it as such. Be prepared accordingly and bring plenty of sun tan lotion, light clothing and only drink bottled water and enjoy what it is.

Bali is so good because it is close to Perth and quick flight to get there. The same time zone as Perth is good. The Balinese are so nice and friendly and their cooking is amazing. The beer is always served ice cold. Everything is affordable.
