"Breakfast was filled with lots of choices, from fresh fruits to croissants and fresh juices. Our room was very clean and very comfortable with lots of amenities that made for a very nice stay we had a balcony with the most amazing view. All the staff were cheerful and very professional. We ate many of our dinners at the Victoria Grill. The menu offered many choices and the food was of high quality. Service was also top notch. I would highly recommend this hotel for its central location on Lake Como."

"Hotel Beretta is in an ideal location in Varenna. Easy access to the ferries and the train. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a large variety of options. Some rooms have balconies that have beautiful lake views. There is a great restaurant on the ground floor as well. "

"We were disappointed on a few aspects of the place but it was good overall.The Bad: The place reeked of smoke. It was listed as a non-smoking unit but that rule had clearly not been respected for a long time, or by many people. It was apparent every time you walked in. The bathroom curtain had a burn mark as evidence. Every time we came into the apartment it was awful and we had to open the windows.The shower unit isn't fully functional, only the handheld mobile shower head works, not the overhead or other jets it came with. The pull-out couch is not great quality, it appears to be new, but it is of the kind where the frame makes different angles after unfolding and I would wake up with a sore back as a result.The Good: The rest of the place was clean, the kitchen was well stocked with plates, cups, and utensils. There was lots of closet space, coat hangers, shelves, etc. the other utilities and amenities were good. There was a nice view. The price was excellent. The location is great.Some final thoughts, I dont think it deserves the current 9.8/10 on VRBO. Not sure how it got that high of a score, but, if it gets properly cleaned, the shower repaired or better yet replaced, and gets a better pull-out or actual bed it certainly would be a great place to stay."

"Spacious top floor apartment with beautiful view from the balcony overlooking Lake Como! We had a car and it was a fun drive up the mountain and close enough to the auto ferry to visit Bellagio or Menaggio. "

"We had 2 nights there, so we really enjoyed staying in this apartment. Wonderful views of the lake, quiet, far from all the busy tourist area. Swimming pool was very enjoyable. Spacious kitchen /dining/living area next to the large patio. Communication with the rental agency was great and the directions and self check-in were great. The minuses: my husband found the carpets and bedrooms had a musty odor, possibly because the area might be humid (and he has a very sensitive nose). A car is necessary, unless you like climbing the road for 30 minutes or so. Parking is very large there, not a problem. A good tip when you visit Varenna with a car. Parking on this side of Varenna is very challenging, unless you are early in the day. Crossing downtown toward the south is not possible (it is a one way) and Google map did not know that. Instead, drive north toward Bellano, and take « via Della Foppa », which is a tunnel which will bring you on the other side of Varenna where you can find large parking structures. "
