Communication with (We Host Maderia) Carlota prior to arrival was very helpful and appreciated too. Some specific info of house number/description in directions to help with expecting the steep approach and finding the accommodation for new arrivals to the island in a hire car. "The house was spotless and a good location to get on highway. It was near the airport and could hear planes landing and taking off but did not hear planes after 11 p m. The owner lives in lower level and was very nice but did not speak much English and I do not speak Portuguese so checking in was a little complicated. I liked the location it was not as busy as Funchal and overlooked the mountains. The island is spectacular and would definitely recommend a stay on this island. "

"Casa Do Loureiro was spacious, very clean, and very well decorated. It was comfortable, and included a third floor outdoor balcony with a view of the Atlantic and surrounding neighborhood. There were a couple of bus stops within blocks of the apartment, making it relatively easy to make to downtown Funchal (a 20-minute ride).Beyond the property, the host (Clara, an artist) was outstanding... very considerate, responsive, and professional. We were all terribly impressed with her. "
