Service, service, service

Was here over 30 years ago and don't remember it being this beautiful! Grounds are immaculate and constantly being groomed. Peace and absolute quiet. Understated elegance, (rustic), quiet, absolutely professional staff all around---from the front gatehouse to the car valet. Friendly staff always wanting to make sure you enjoy the day and the sunset---without being intrusive. Food is outstanding ---quality beyond 5 stars. Went to two other restaurants because of recommendations; would have been happier just dining here. An absolute jewel of a destination. You can't get any better than this......

Magical getaway

The San Ysidro Ranch has a chill garden of eden in paradise feeling; from the private outdoor shower and jacuzzi for every cottage to the exquisite peaceful mountain view from the very private pool with lush overplanted gardens. And, as a special bonus, the spectacular San Ysidro hiking trail is out the front door! We went there for our birthdays and were treated royally. Both world class restaurants were fantastic. We can’t wait to go back!

Almost unbelievably great hotel

this hotel is fabulous, excellent food in gorgeous restaurants, beautiful private patio with perfect lounge chairs and dining table. when the ordered breakfast came, the table was set with cloth table cloth. it is like being in another world!

Beautiful grounds w/blooming flowers and trimmed bushes everywhere, and a gracious reception area. Cottage OK, but not five star (one sink in bathroom, queen bed); spider web in bathroom, at ceiling.

Best Birthday weekend ever!

Now I know what all the accolades are all about. The SYR is top notch all around. Enjoyed the Pool, dining on our patio and the incredible Stonehouse restaurant. Highly recommend the SYR!

Quiet elegance.

Went for a girlfriend's weekend getaway. Enjoyed it immensely. Wonderful food. A great place to get away and relax. Good location, close to many sights in the area. Restaurant was excellent as was the service all over the property. They take very good care of you.

Very nice room, but not worth the price.

This is an extremely expensive hotel. It did not live up to our expectations. For my husband's 40th birthday, we were the first people at the restaurant with a 6 pm reservation. We were seated directly in the sun. We asked to have the blinds lowered twice, but spent our time squinting with the sun in our eyes. The second couple at dinner that evening was seated right next to us. With no one else in the entire restaurant, we were a little crammed together and could hear every word of their conversation. Aside from this, the room was very nice, but did not warrant the price. The hiking trails were not impressive. There was no spa, only spa treatments in your room. The grounds were very nice, but there was very little to do.

Outstanding place to get away. My wife and I celebrated our baby moon prior to her giving birth to our son. Absolutely relaxing environment and we are sure to return. Staff was also top notch!

Truly heaven on earth!

This place is truly amazing! The cottage really makes you feel at home wish we stayed a little longer, it's worth every penny. The small jacuzzi and the tub are so relaxing, not enough words to describe our experince. This place is highly recommended!!

Perfect get-a-way

Every little detail was covered. Perfect get-a-way. Quiet, peaceful, nice pool, food everywhere (we weren't nickel and dimed). The two days of hikes up the San Ysidro Trail were fantastic. The pool was at the right temperature...service great. The Stonehouse restaurant was the best place we ate on our 8 night trip up the California coast.

Amazing retreat in the hills above Montecito

We had a wonderful 4 night stay here. The hotel is so beautiful and the service is excellent and friendly. The restaurants and room service are excellent. The rooms are very unique. They range from small private luxury cabins to full homes. Very safe area. Sun and stars were amazing. Night time lighting is very low and romantic. Highly recommended, this hotel beckons you back when out sight-seeing and for a future visit! One of the the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Expensive, but worth it. We looked at several other options in the area and were so happy with our choice to stay here despite the extra cost.

The Ultimate Getaway

We'll pass next time.

We stayed during the long Thanksgiving weekend. The hotel itself and people working there were wonderful BUT the extra charges for the pool and advertising was above and beyond the very expensive price we were already paying for the room. The Thanksgiving meal we had was also way over priced and not worth it considering the quality of the food.
