Casa Vistosa | Santa Barbara Mesa Family Home

  • Summary:
    A colorful three-bedroom Santa Barbara vacation rental on the Mesa, a few minutes from Hendry's Beach and a short walk from groceries and cafés. Vaulted ceilings, carved arches, and Spanish tile give it character, the backyard is made for barbecues, and the garage is stocked with boogie boards, beach chairs, an umbrella, and bikes. Sleeps six.

    The Space:
    Three bedrooms, two baths, sleeps six.

    Vistosa means colorful in Spanish, and the house lives up to it, with bright, playful décor set against vaulted ceilings, carved arches, and Spanish tile.

    The primary bedroom has a large walk-in closet and an en-suite bath with a separate shower and a jetted soaking tub. The second and third bedrooms each have a queen bed. The kitchen is fully stocked, and it's an easy house for a family to settle into.

    French doors open to the back patios and the garden, set up for barbecue dinners and morning coffee. Beach gear and bikes are in the garage, and an outdoor shower is waiting when you get back from the sand.

    Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace, a washer and dryer, and parking on site are included.

    The Neighborhood:
    The Mesa is a relaxed residential neighborhood on the bluffs above Santa Barbara's coastline, where locals walk to the market and ride bikes to the beach. Casa Vistosa sits on a corner lot, a five-minute walk from Lazy Acres Market and the Mesa's cafés and restaurants.

    Hendry's Beach, a local favorite with a beachside restaurant and a long stretch of sand, is about five minutes by car. Downtown Santa Barbara and the Funk Zone are about 10 minutes away.

    Errands are walkable, and the bikes in the garage make the beach an easy ride. Parking is on site.

The place was great and in a convenient location for our needs. There was a heat wave when we were there and there was no A/C, but there was a central fan for the heating that could be used with the heat off, a couple of ceiling fans and free standing fans that made it bearable. I am told that no A/C is common in that area because the weather is typically milder.

We really enjoyed staying at this house. House was very nice and clean. Well appointed with items that we didnt even know about. Kitchen was stocked well. Eating places nearby was very helpful and grocery stores nearby also saved the day. Walking to the beach parks were nice in the evenings. The neighborhoods themselves were just nice to walk. Quiet place. Landscaper came on Monday, just as owners had told me but kept to himself and didnt come super early to wake us up. Showers were really nice. I was worried about no air conditioning but weather was fantastic, we could open windows, ceiling fan in master helped, and oscillating fans in other rooms were utilized. Washer and dryer was used everyday. We had a great vacation here.

A very comfortable house

Family wedding celebration

We stayed for a week together to celebrate a family wedding and had a lovely time together and in the home. It was very special and a great location and home base for our time together!

Impressive Stay!

Even though it was our fault we did not realize this property did not have AC, it was a great stay! Opening some of the windows and turning on the fans really helped. We enjoyed our stay! Clean and so cute!

The place was perfect for our needs. Very clean & well appointed. The only thing that needed attention was the kitchen faucet. It needs replaced! Doesn’t move & water barely comes out. A hair dryer in bathroom would also be nice. Thank you for a great visit!!

Location, Location, Location!

This home is perfect for a stay with family or friends. Close to everything. Walk to groceries, massage, coffee shop, and a few restaurants. The bikes were awesome for getting to the Preserve for a walk, ride to the waterfront or the steps at Mesa. We'd definitely come back! Also, the property management team was extremely prompt and helpful with any of our questions.

GREAT Location

Great location. Walk to stores, coffee shops, restaurants. Beach gear in garage with bikes. Property Manager responds quickly if you have any questions or concerns. Small improvement could be a towel rack in the primary bathroom, there is no where to put your towel when you shower. We were sad to leave and can't wait to be back!

Great Place. The Mesa has everything

We grew up in SB and have lived on Palisades when we were younger! The location is perfect! We love the Boathouse and Shoreline cafe so really easy to get to. The house perfect for our kids to run and play. I would recommend this property to everyone. If I had to say anything that was a con, it would be the water in the master bedroom took a long time to heat up. And that wasn’t a big deal at all. Love the property!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this Santa Barbara house with the grassy backyard and patio, perfect for outdoor dining. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, just a short drive from Hendry's Beach and the yummy Boathouse restaurant in one direction and downtown, wharf, and zoo in the other. The house was comfortable with great decor, well stocked with dishes/cookware in good condition and very clean but could have used minor repairs to the kitchen faucet (clogged head and neck wouldn't swivel) and bath faucets (clogged head/missing handle). We appreciated the ceiling fans and windows with screens, so we could open them for ocean air/nature sounds without the bugs getting in or having to turn on the AC. The master shower was great, as were niceties like toiletries, kleenix, and reading lamps in the bedrooms. Smart TV was fine but recommend getting an antenna so guests can enjoy local stations too. The laundry center and basket was very appreciated, as we didn't have to pack as much on our trip. At check-in, we were informed by the mgmt co. that the fridge was not cooling properly, and we should use the mini fridge in the garage. The next day a small fridge was delivered to the kitchen for our stay. Although we would have liked earlier notice and the situation was inconvenient, the mgmt co. communicated often and provided a solution in a timely manner, which we appreciated. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing time and recommend Casa Vistosa to all.

The house was a dream to stay in. It was close to many stores and convenient to downtown SB. We were only a 10 minute drive away from the Santa Barbara courthouse where we attended a wedding. Thank you for everything.
