"Very helpful staff and the view of the pagoda from the room is great. Also loved having a coffee stand right outside the hotel. Downside is 99% of taxi drivers won’t want to drive directly to the hotel, so you’ll have to drag your luggage up the hill through crowds of people."

"Great location with super helpful staff"

"Everything about this place was outstanding, there is nothing I would change about our experience at the hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was a delight with so many special touches. The dinner and breakfast were so delicious. We would highly recommend a stay"

"This ryokan was the best part of our trip to Japan! Would stay there again. Delicious breakfast and lovely hosts."

"An ideal and authentic location. If you’re looking for a traditional hotel and experience this is an excellent choice."

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes. However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though. The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...

"Everything was great at this location our only concern were the stairs. We've (myself, husband and our adult son) stumble on the stairs. The steps were very narrow except for the landing steps. "

"The property was clean and located in an excellent area. It had access to many local temples and shrines, as well as, dining options."

"Loved our stay! The room was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was great, with shops and food close by. Everything ran smoothly from check-in to check-out. Would happily stay again. 10/10!"

"Yasada San was amazing at check in! This place is huge by Japanese standards. We booked the room with two twins. It has burners and a kitchen sink and a hot water kettle. The shower and tub area were enormous! Yasada San was there to check us in when we arrived. He showed us how to get into the building, into our room and showed us everything inside our room. The location is right in the heart of the Hagashiyama District. Uphill."

"Absolutely amazing oasis in the heart of crowded Kiyomizu. Beautiful, tranquil, clean guest house with tons of space."

"Outstanding value and unbeatable location. A highlight of the trip. Clean accomodations."

"Words can’t explain how beautiful this hotel is and in the perfect location! The hotel is absolutely amazing and the views are unmatched. I’ve stayed at many great hotels but nothing compares to this one! Breakfast is fantastic and staff is so incredibly kind! Worth staying here when you come to Kyoto!!! Amazing!!!"

"One of the best hotels in the world. And definitely the best I have ever stayed at in my life. The employees are so friendly and leave enough space for customers. The rooms are so comfortable that they made me have a great sleep. The price is worth it."

"Great hotel, food was great restaurant and bakery were fantastic."
