Great location

Great location near Yasaka Shrine, Kennin-ji, and Kiyomeza Dera. Very much enjoyed the Japanese style breakfast buffet. The hotel was undergoing renovation work in April 2025 so the exterior and all windows were entirely covered, so some travelers will object.

I recently stayed at APA Hotel Kyoto Gion, and it was a pleasant experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with all the basic amenities provided. The staff was friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any requests. The location was convenient, close to local attractions and public transport. Breakfast offered a decent variety of options, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was welcoming.

Love that it was close to everything. I even got up early, grabbed my Starbucks downstairs and walked the 1 1/2 miles to the train station. Lovely scenery

Pros: Great location! Close to everything… very convenience for tourist exploring Kyoto. Cons: I book a room for 4 people and realistic we only got a room with 2 twin beds, ideally for only 2 people. Very hot at night, property doesn’t have AC and upon request you can get a fan delivered to your room.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly! Especially helping me set up my luggage forwarding. The location IS excellent, it is essentially right in the middle of Gion with several major attractions nearby such as Yasaka shrine (literally the next block over) and Pontocho alley. My best stay so far in Japan!
