Great property with great rooms — very comfortable and centrally located in downtown SLO. Great food at the attached restaurant, and there's a cool bar as well. The upstairs lounge, indoor and out, is a perfect spot for morning coffee (they keep it fresh and ready, along with croissants), or for before/after whatever you're doing, or while waiting on others in your group to head out (we were a group of 5 across different rooms). The only reason for 4 stars is their key policy. They need to upgrade their locks. You can leave your door unlocked, and the key comes with this huge keychain you're forced to carry around — it's odd. My friend lost his key (because we'd all taken the keychains off, since they don't really fit in a pocket) and it cost him $250. They charge enough per night that they could invest in normal hotel door locks instead of charging guests for lost keys. I'd stay again regardless, but I think they should fix that.

Loved the relaxed vibe of the hotel. The outdoor terrace and cozy fireplace areas were a plus as well as the complimentary freshly baked croissants and delicious coffee/tea early in the morning. We were in the classic queen room 10 and liked the window opening to the alley for a fresh breeze and a lovely view of climbing ivy and a bit of the street. Would have liked more hooks to hang our items and towels, otherwise it was comfortable room overall. We enjoyed our drinks from the Nightcap bar upstairs by the fire outside with our friends who were also staying there. There are free bikes to use though we never had a chance to try them out.

This was a wonderful find. The location was great for exploring the charming town of SLO as the hotel was just steps to the main street. The hotel is super charming with fireplaces in some of the rooms and public areas. Some of the rooms are somewhat small but my room was a perfect size and I enjoyed the gas fire. In the morning there were excellent pastry along with some fruit & tea/coffee for the guests. The hotel has a beautiful bistro and a very popular classic bar. Loved this hotel!!
