10 minute drive from San Gimignano with great views, place was well kept with beautiful grounds and a nice pool. Staff was courteous and breakfast was average for an hotel of this level. We had an issue with the air conditioning that wasn't cooling off since the beginning, and even tho the technician came out to the room, the issues remained. Suspecting that for containing energy costs they kept the level at 25 or so.. I hope that's not the case. Not sure if I will return.

We used to stay in this property before , and the reason to rebooking was because we had before a complete experience This time we didn’t have a good experience at all; we requested two room with panoramic views , and we had a parking view (room 136) , horrible view ; cars parking instead of Tuscany landscaping…. We didn’t have our room cleaned properly the next day- didn’t give us new towels or remplace more shampoo etx … they left our dirty tray of dishes form dinner there etx … walls dirty , the property looks very old now , it’s not fresh as before … We complain about the bad service of our room and for the parking view and they basically didn’t do anything to compensate or to offer another room with view (we requested by written and they answers us confirming it …)

Beautiful Tuscany retreat
The resort was overall beautiful and clean looking. Our room had no real issues, but the bed was a little older and slightly soft. My wife and I slept very well though. The soaps and toiletries they provided were great. For the price and area, I think it was a good value. I would stay again.

Beds are comfortable, pillows are flat and kind of hard , clean good size rooms. Tried breakfast which has good selection and tried dinner which was just fine; food could have improvement. Very friendly staff. Beautiful views; just 13 min from St Gimigiano.

We had fun, don't get me wrong. I give this property a tepid review because it is a cardboard cutout in some ways -- not what it would say that it is. The location is excellent, grounds amazing, great staff in most ways, spa is so convenient. But here are the things that surprised me. Poor communication regarding the couples spa -- rubbed me completely the wrong way in that they encouraged me to go to the pool and enjoy some of the "5 hours of complimentary spa services." That refers to the pool in the lower level. It is AMAZING. So relaxing, best pool area I have seen, indoor and outdoor, look out at the property -- AMAZING. The problem: later I found out my girlfriend could not go because I went and there is a one time ACCESS per room for the 5 hour option. SO, that set me off. I was there 1 hour, they pushed me, it was disappointing. They did not offer for her and I to pay to go, it seemed like NOPE, just can't. Odd, I know. THEN, the restaurant. The staff is not very accommodating, very limited and a bit extreme of a menu. 5 entrees and two were Wild Boar and Duck -- somewhat exotic. Not bad, just something to be aware of. Small bar with a GREAT bartender -- Yuri. Room: bathtub was a bit dirty. Overall furnishings are very dated. I am not one to complain about fixtures, but the bathroom was a 1990's nightmare. Again, had fun. But this place needs to come with better 'instructions.'

Enjoyable stay
My wife and I are newly-wed Americans in our upper 20s. We stayed at Villasanpaolo for a total of three nights. We absolutely loved the area, and, after only having booked two nights originally, elected to extend our stay at Villasanpaolo an extra night. The grounds are phenomenal and there are views everywhere. Note that it's location is ideal for quick day trips but almost definitely requires a car. We were able to get in and out of San Gimignano quickly and easily. As some other reviews mentioned, the decor is a little dated but perfectly clean and functional. My wife and I actually enjoyed it. Their breakfast was above average and especially noteworthy with the views. We did do dinner at Villasanpaolo one night. The food was only average and the service was a little slower than what we had experienced elsewhere in Italy but they had very friendly staff. If you stay here and are looking for a very nice dinner, you absolutely must go to Al 43 - Locanda dell' Artista. It isn't cheap in absolute terms but it's a great value for a high end dining experience. The wifi was not great but we were in what was probably the room furthest away from the lobby (guessing that's where they had the wifi set up).

Very charming place located in the heart of the Tuscan Region. The hotel provided Spa services & a swimming pool with magnificent views of the countryside. The hotel was not in walking distance to San Gimignano or the local vineyards & required the use of a taxi which ran around 40€ for a round trip

My first trip to Italy and Villasanpaolo did not disappoint. Beautifully situated in the Tuscan hills just outside San Gimignano Perfect location to use as a base to take days trips from or for your ultimate destination. The grounds, gardens, pools,spa and other amenities were wonderful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Delicious breakfast buffet.

This place exceeded our expectations. Great views and location for touring the area. Staff are positive and friendly, always willing to help. In nearby San Gimingnano food is average to poor in most restaurants but is good in hotel restaurant which has wonderful views and surroundings, so we ate in mostly. Stay here, you will not be disappointed

The hotel was excellent, with good views of the landscape and about 10 minutes drive into San Gimignano. The staff are great and very helpful. The food is very good, there are many outdoor spaces to relax in. And the SPA is very nice. I recommend the Wellness Journey where you can use the indoor heated pool/Jacuzzi and the many other hot rooms and showers.

Extremely warm welcome and excellent room. Dinner and breakfast were very good indeed, as was the service. Only negative was the terrace area, which was rather untidy, planting untended and the view of San Gimignano in the distance was largely obstructed by the hedge - which was a real pity. I would book a room with a balcony in the future.

Overall a good stay, staff very friendly and accommodating. Room was nice, beds very comfy and the scenery spectacular! I would say that the only down side was the food, although of a decent standard I wouldn't say it was up there with the usual standard of Italian cuisine I have been used to as a whole in Italy......... Can't say it put a bad spin on the overall experience though as we had a great time.

Not what we expected out of a Tuscan hotel
About the most uncomfortable bed I have ever been in. I am not a fan of hotels who use 2 single beds and push them together to form a queen or king bed as it leaves a nice seam in the middle that either my wife or I would sink into. This hotel is in the heart of Tuscany and you have some expectations the hotels would have that 'charm' for the area but the inside of this hotel has a 70's modern look and no charm. Over 40 Euro each for use of the spa seems a bit much too.
