I needed a quick place to stay after making a mistake with my flight. The price for the 4 bed to a room was very good. The hostel is clean and the staff was very helpful. You can't expect "quiet" when you're in the Union Square area, but I was happy with my stay.
For the price and location I give it 5 stars. Noise and SF grime and lawless factor in the area take a star away. That being said it is what it needs to be and I’d stay there again if everything else around is > $1000 per night.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
All the people who work there are very nice and professional: receptionists, housekeepers, a young guy who cleans the kitchen! Thanks to all of you!
If I could add anything to this place, that would be some snacks and drinks dispenser and a coffee machine or juste some coffee offered to the guests 🤗
when you are staying only a couple of days, you don’t think to buy ground coffee to prepare it twice a day.
The vibes are good! Room was decent. For a young 20’s something it’s a nice spot to be with friends and meet people. I just personally have a more bougie taste now that I’m mid 30’s, and it’s not the hotels fault for that. So if you see some lower stars, that’s why. Super nice staff and common areas.
The staffs were excellent. Very helpful.the shared lobby and the kitchen are good too. The 6 bed shared room where I stayed were full of worn out beds, did not appear to be ‘clean’ enough. Not enough spaced to hang out used clothes. Maybe, considering the low cost, it should be accepted.
The Adelaide reminds me of Grandma's house - if Grandma lived in a super cool old mansion. I love the relaxed atmosphere here. The staff are super nice and very attentive, and other travelers that stayed here were friendly and chill. The Adelaide (IMHO) is the best Hostel in SF for remote working - From the Huge Lounge with lots of room and nice private and quiet areas to work in, to the outside Garden at the back of the property, off the HUGE kitchen. You can buy food and cook here and store things in the huge fridges. The bunk beds are super comfy and are very sturdy. You won't feel any movement from your 'bunkie' above or below you, and the privacy curtain is the best! Showers and bathrooms are very clean and working well. The 3rd floor bathroom has the biggest shower head I have ever seen!!!! As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe both at the Hostel and in the surrounding area. The Hostel is very central to everything you need and walkable 24/7.
It's very conveniently located and quiet at night, which I really appreciate. There were two other people in the room with me, all very respectful of being quiet. The cleaning crew don't really do a good job with the cleaning. A spray here and there and a wipe, that's it. The sheets I had had holes in them. The beds were comfortable. There's a kitchen, which is good for cooking "at home", so to speak. They have recycling bins and compost, but people don't use them the right way. Maybe a note would help. Oh, and there is a no smoking sign big enough at the front door, which a lot of people choose to ignore. All in all, I was comfortable with most things for the price I paid. Did I mention, it's very conveniently located? You have public transportation to everywhere!!
Uneven and unsafe steep stairs to go anywhere in this place. For some reason, women are housed up on the 2nd floor (2 long flights up). Kitchen was not in operation during my stay which turned out to be OK as it'd be ANOTHER steep flt. of stairs to get there (3 flts. total).
Staff was generally decent & helpful with the exception of one female (swing shift) who was rude, argumentative and unhelpful.
