Staff was most excellent! Happy, helpful and friendly. Room was clean but extremely outdated. Only soap in bathroom. No shampoo, but for the price and considering they actually had a room available during Comic-Con my stay was great.

The staff here is some of the best people in any place I’ve stayed, hands down. Just because it’s a motel doesn’t mean it can’t be clean, cozy and actually inviting. I’ve felt very safe here for the most part despite any sort of reputation for its location it may have. I’ve been displaced from my home and have not felt safe in a long time, but I do here. Security makes their presence known and the staff is really personable and caring.. thanks!!!

You usually get what you pay for. However, finding a motel at this price in this location was next to impossible. Shower worked. Air conditioning worked. Room didnnot smell. No bed bugs, no roaches, no other creepy crawlers. Lights worked. Staff were courteous. There was enough parking though many spaces required good driving skills. I saw one car obnoxiously taking up two spaces. Area was quiet. If you just need a pit stop for the night, this place will accommodate.

A not-so-great area of San Diego, but you get what you pay for. The bed was very choppy, but overall, the room was clean, and the hot water was hot. It's near a train stop, so there is the sound of a train whooshing by and an accompanying loud train whistle. I was alone, but I would not recommend it for families unless that was your only option.

Staff good. Beds and shower good. Fridge worked. Hotel is right under train tracks so occasional train whistle but we were in building 1; surprisingly quiet. Got prank call to room at 2am. Killed cockroach in the bathroom. Have some itchy bites which I hope are not bedbugs! No coffee nor restaurant nearby. Price was lower than competitors and parking was free. Only wifi if you pay.

It isn't the Taj Mahal but it is convenient and it is cost conscious. It is spread out over a decent stretch of property and still has smoking rooms. It is somewhat isolated being the only business for at least a block in either direction. As the rooms start to fill up, the darndest thing happens, the price drops. When similar places are charging $120 and up, EZ-8 stays consistent at around $80 to $90. I enjoy relaxing in the jacuzzi, late at night it is swim suit optional! Just kidding. It would be nice if they would expand the jacuzzi use to midnight or even later. The rooms are pretty basic, but homey. Give it a try. See you at the jacuzzi.

Overall the stay was fine. The room was sparse but clean and the bed was comfortable. The reason for the poor rating happened my second night there. I booked online for two nights (a Friday and Saturday), and at around 10:45pm on Saturday evening as I was sleeping the security guard pounded on my door, waking me up and saying he needed to see my ID because there wasn't supposed to be anyone in the room. Once he saw me and recognized me (from when I checked in the night before) he expressed frustration at the other staff, but it was still a deeply disruptive experience. I never got an explanation or an apology from the motel, which was disappointing. I would not stay here again.

Although close to Old Town this place is tucked under the freeway. There is a reason it’s the cheapest room in SD. Room was clean, water was hot, bed was okay. Linens were bare minimum. Ice machine broken and property looks to be in various stages of repair/remodel. What one would expect for a cheap room, but keep expectations low.

Our visit started out with a pleasant 30 minute wait as the building was closed and the person working check in was “out to lunch”. At least the large homeless population at the gate kept us company until she arrived. Cones: pee stained pillow, broken bed, sticky floors, pee smell, limited parking, train tracks directly overhead with trains going past every 30 mins all night long, noise, general dirty condition, key card not working, random person pubes in the shower. Pros: vending machine selection, provided dog disposal waste bags, security outside.

I would NEVER consider staying at this property EVER again!! The young lady in the morning, when I arrived too early (around 10:30 am) for check-in was wonderful, friendly, and helpful. My room wasn't ready, but that was because I showed up early. No problem, I met up with friends and then returned later after the 4 pm check-in time. I was informed by the young Hispanic woman at the front that my room wasn't ready, and it would be 30 minutes for my room to be ready. I sat in the lobby until 5 pm, watched countless guests check in and privided their room keys. I was completely frustrated that my room still wasn't ready after having showed up earlier that morning. Completely unacceptable. I expressed my disappointment with the situation (yes with a few chouce words, which I never ever do) but the young ladies attitude was really what set me off. She became unprofessional and then told me I wasn't going to get my room because of my expressions and words. IF I AM PAYING for something not getting that room is not something that should be threatened. Absolutely RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! To make matters worse, I asked to speak to the owner and the owner doubled down and defended his employee and her rude interaction with me. So, I asked for my bags and left. Thankfully, I had friends staying in another part of town so I had a backup plan.
