A village inn in essence, bigger than expected, well looked after and clean with pleasant, helpful staff. Plenty of parking and quiet. Good bar choice and would stay there again. The only slight letdown was the Sunday roast lunch which was over-cooked and tasted and looked like it had been kept warm for hours. The other meals were adequate.

Lovely friendly greeting atmosphere was great
Food lovely we really enjoyed our stay and the would definitely go back
All the staff are so welcoming, friendly and chatty. The food, both evening meal and breakfast, was delicious. The room was comfortable and cosy. This is such a wonderful place to stay. We will be back :-)
Really quite enjoyed this little pub stay. Tuesday night is bell ringing practice at the neighboring church until nine so parking is a premium if arriving late. Busy friendly place with an awesome breakfast.
Another comfy stay with great food
They are constantly doing things to the place - i'm sure such an old building needs constant work !
The sausage and mash beat me - really good
room at the back was really quiet
great value and far more pleasant than staying in a "Premier lodge"
Its out of the way, but well worth finding
see you all soon
Always a warm welcome from all of the staff. The menu is varied, priced well and always tastes good with a good choices for vegetarians. We have stayed here numerous times and wouldn't go anywhere else.
Lovely , comfortable stsy. We arrived very early but were able to buy ourselves a breakfast and were given a key for when we returned from a family wedding nearby. The staff were absolutely brilliant.
On the whole everything was as you would expect from a rural pub type accommodation. Good restaurant food, lovely room, decorated in keeping with its age. I liked it. Breakfast wasn't the best, the only smallish downside in a nice relaxing, quiet weekend. Just what was needed.
Nice place although not a good view from my room. Good welcome and food in evening was nice. Parking was conveniently in a car park across the riD that i was told had cameras
Memorable stay as always what you would expect from a pub dating from the 12th century. wonderful friendly service, food is good pub food, friendly atmosphere and location in Cornish countryside, our favorite place to stay when visiting friends in Saltash and for touring this area of Cornwall.
Perfect for the overnight stay I needed, staff friendly, food great, room good size and clean. Only downside was mattress was very soft but didnt put me off booking if I needed again.
Great Inn with lots of old features and modernised rooms. It’s a bit like a tardis inside with lots of seating in the back. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is good.
Don’t trust your satnav if it tries to send you down a 7ft wide lane with a recommended max 10mph sign. It’s point to point shorter, but there is a much faster normal road to use.
4 night business stay. The room was clean and spacious with a good sized flat screen TV. The jewel in the crown is the restaurant which was busy every night. If you want fine dining go elsewhere but if it is excellent home cooked food, this is the place but make sure that you book to avoid disappointment.
I fully enjoyed my stay. Staff where kind and helpful, dinner was served quick and tasted amazing the room was massive with country views and a big bathroom. We stayed in August bank holiday and expected it to be busy but it was lovely and quiet, a real hidden gem. The little church yard behind it was beautiful. Would recommend to anyone that wants a peaceful time away with a good atmosphere.
Loveky quant pub set in the countryside ,serves good food at a low price , rooms are clean and well equipt .. pub can ve a little noisy but ut susnt detract from a good night sleep
Extremely friendly staff. Warm, clean room, bed just a little soft and was expecting a queen but was only a double with queen head board, but wasn’t an issue as only a 2 night stay.
What a very unique Hotel this is and so full of character with over 800 years old, the furnishings inside are stunning, just a little difficult to get there with the narrow road, but once you work that out it is easy
Very welcoming and comfortable stay. The Weary Friar is a bit off the beaten track reached by some narrow lanes which adds to the fun. Cosy clean and simply decorated room with tea and coffee making facilities.
Excellent dinner in bar with wide range of menu choices. Good breakfast with cereal, toast, tea and (instant) coffee self served and breakfast cooked to order. Highly recommended.
