Excellent hotel , very spacious clean room . The swimming pool was a bonus and we did enjoy it . Centrally located in Russell next to the beach and wharf with great parking . The beach was a bit disappointing , it was not sandy . However the Hotel was a peaceful retreat . The hotel room was ideal if you were self catering but there were many varied good restaurants nearby as well . We would definitely return and would highly recommended it .

Absolutely fantastic place! You will not find anything better than this. We spent our honeymoon here and it’s one of the most romantic places you’ll find!

This property is perfectly placed in the heart of the Russell waterfront however once you stepped into the property it was quiet and serene. You would not have known you were right next to busy restaurants aa there was no noise at all. Very close to the wharf, with many restaurants and conveniences within easy walking distance. While some of the decor is a little dated, it has been very well maintained and you can see the owners have continued to upgrade parts of the property. The room was very pleasant to stay in. The service was excellent, they were able to accommodate a slightly early check in, which was very much appreciated, so that we could leave our car parked at the property while we enjoyed a tour to the hole in the rock. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

We were deeply disappointed with our recent stay. We stayed there a year ago and really enjoyed our stay: so much that we have recommended you to several friends. On that occasion we felt very welcome on our arrival. This time the welcome and atmosphere was very off handed. Even though the Lodge was virtually empty there was no atmosphere to feel we were welcome. That feeling still lives with us. We do hope that this can be improved as the Lodge is in a beautiful spot but right now we don't feel we could recommend it to anyone or make another booking ourselves.

The spaciousness of the room for the cost is a wonderful value and you can’t beat the location! I also left an item behind by mistake and the manager not only called me right away but was willing to ship it back to me. We are very grateful we found this place!

We had a great stay here at the Commodores Lodge. We had a wedding to go to next door at the Duke of Marlborough. It was a perfect spot to have a swim on an extremely hot day. We loved that we could take the Kyacks and bikes without having to ask. The accom interior was pleasant, a bit dated but not bad considering the location and proximity to everything. Would stay again.

Memorable experience, will be back

An amazing stay, loved the town, loved the accommodation and the service and had a memorable time. We drove around the North Island and stayed in a number of very reputable chains and hotels but the experience at Commodores Lodge was genuinely superior. units were large enough to accommodate us (family of 4), clean and very well maintained. location is certainly best you get in Russell. the pool was nice and convenient specially for our children, they absolutely loved it. Finally a big thank you to hosts Sue and Hamid for their smiling and welcoming faces and looking after us during our stay.
