"We have stayed at a number of lodges at Roadford Lake. The location is great for a peaceful break away from everything and we love that it is dog friendly. Unfortunately, this lodge is not as good as others. There was a strong smell of sewage down towards the main bedroom end. Although it is supposed to accommodate 8, the range of glasses and crockery was not enough. The sofas are stained and dirty. And the general feel was of being unloved. The property is up for sale at the moment, so that is probably the case. Disappointing. But we will just stay at a different lodge next time."

"My wife and I have just enjoyed a four night stay at Hawthorne Lodge at Roadford Lake. The lodge was scrupulously clean and in first class condition. Everything was just as you would wish for. I must make special reference to the bed in the main bedroom which was the comfiest we have ever slept in. Also the air conditioning in the bedroom was a bonus even in September. The grounds on the whole estate were well maintained adding to the enjoyable experience. We would recommend Hawthorne Lodge without reservation and we are already considering a return visit some time next year."

"Beautiful well equipped and clean spacious lodge. Did a shop in Tesco about 15 minutes away which lasted us all week. Ordered an Indian takeaway friendly service. Very quiet spot. We needed the peace and quiet but if you’re looking for a close shop, clubhouse, bar, you’ll need a drive out. We loved it."

"We booked this last minute and we were not disappointed. Lodge was beautiful, modern, light, extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need and more. The living space and beds were extremely comfortable. Hot tub was a lovely added bonus and relaxing. The location is beautiful, tranquil and relaxing and perfect for walks with our two dogs. Roadford lake is stunning and lovely little cafe to waste the time away in with delicious homemade cakes. My only negative would be no enclosed outside space so had to take dogs out in lead every time and you did have to pay £40 extra for each dog. We will definitely be returning"

"A very relaxing quiet and peaceful location over looking a duck pond and direct access to Roadford lakes which is a great place to walk and enjoy the out doors, especially if you have a dog. The cafe is a good place to have coffee and cake over looking the lake. The lodge has 2 extremely comfy sofas and everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. The hot tub was a great added bonus. This was our 4th visit to this particular lodge but have stayed here over 7 times. We absolutely love it."

"We had a lovely stay here , it’s a beautiful place lovely surroundings the lake was lovely the cafe great food although little disappointed not open very long and no warning one day was closed when walked down to it , just because the food was delicious, The lodge was lovely kitchen well equipped, very comfortable beds clean and tidy great lodge , had loads of games we could play , hot tub was lovely and clean kids loved it , would definitely recommend and we would return thanks for a lovely stay ☺️"

"Lovely lodge. Immaculately clean and maintained and very well equipped. Wouldn’t stay here again though as absolutely no privacy. Lodge faces the only road on the site so you have constant children, cars, people walking past the patio. It also wasn’t enclosed so not great when you have a dog. We did feel a bit trapped in the lodge in the whilst we were there."

"Review for 21 Roadford Lake Lodges We recently stayed at Lodge 21 and overall found it clean and comfortable inside. However, a few areas could definitely be improved to make the experience smoother. The exterior felt a bit neglected — the outdoor furniture was dirty, and there were unnecessary leaves and debris that hadn’t been cleared. It gave the outside space a slightly uncared‑for feel, which was a shame given the lovely surroundings. Inside, the lodge was extremely hot on arrival. It would help if housekeeping closed the curtains beforehand and left the windows on the security latch to keep the temperature down for guests checking in. Another ongoing frustration is the onsite EV chargers being out of service yet again. This seems to be a recurring issue and really needs addressing, especially as many guests rely on them. Overall, the lodge itself was clean and pleasant, but a few practical improvements would make a big difference to the guest experience."
