  • The high tide tonight at Shell Beach gave us quite a show. There was a large pod of dolphins off shore and birds flying and diving into the water everywhere; the Pelicans were my favorite to watch. Usually we come here during low tide to explore the pools, but this was a different experience and one not to be missed.

It is a very quaint place. Nice personal atmosphere with clean rooms and spectacular service. This is now my go to place to stay when I visit. If there was a way to give more than 5 stars I would. Very convenient to a liquor store and a few shops.

Parking was great, right by our door, no fees, no valet, so easy. Room was clean and housekeeper even left a note, (Maria, I believe). We arrived late, and the innkeeper Daniel, left a code in a lockbox, and sent a secure electronic key via my mobile device. Very close to restaurants, thinking breakfast at Zorros cafe an easy block walk away was great, with a Shell Beach Inn coupon. We booked the same day as our travels were loosely planned, (my specialty)…. We met with family visiting the area, en route to another destination. Loved to see our family 😁 on our way! Thank you Shell Beach Inn for making a very last moment visit successful.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shell Beach Inn. It's the perfect distance between Pismo and Avila Beaches and has easy access to many restaurants and a little store. The room was simple but had everything we needed to enjoy the beach. The pool was warm enough that we could use it and my kids enjoyed it a lot.
