"Fantastic location within walking distance to the main area of Gion and streets of cherry blossoms without the crowd.
The room is so spacious and great for families with a baby or toddler. Our baby was able to play in the tatami room. A cot and high chair was also provided to us free of charge.
The kitchenette and washing machine / dryer enabled us to feed our baby and do our washing too without any stress.
The hotel is approximately 10 minutes from Kyoto Station and a taxi ride should not...

"The hello kitty room is so adorable. There’s luggage storage for before check in and a laundry machine. The room had a little kitchen in it. Very worth the money and not too expensive"

"This was a great place. Location can’t be beat, close to train lines and walkable. Big rooms. My kids felt very much at home. Has laundry too and also walking distance to a bigger laundromat too.
Will come back again."

"A lovely little hotel tucked away down a side street in Kyoto. Very friendly staff, nice room with good a/c (we stayed during an extreme heat episode so were very grateful for that). Nice eateries nearby. Would recommend."

"Pros: Rooms were clean, daily breakfast and dinner is good, lawson’s is right beside the hotel, many restaurants nearby, staff were very sweet and helpful, Kyoto Station isn’t too far, public bath, and it’s a quieter neighborhood.
Cons: Check out is 10am but Check in is at 4pm, hotel is older with many rooms but the map isn’t clean so it’s hard finding your room at first, coin laundry machines but they were pretty dirty with dirt stuck on the sides like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, the dryer didn’t even dry my clothes(2 pants) so it felt like a waste of money, not many amenities.
Some things to keep in mind: In case you want to do early check in, they charge more before 1pm and after 1pm they charge 30% of current room prices, same with late check out. You have to book dinner beforehand."
"Location was great and 1 stop away from Shijo and Kyoto Station! Room was clean and towels changed daily. Bathroom was clean. 1 mattress did have a bit of mattress sink in the middle. Aircon was great and could be controlled within the room."
"We stayed in a Kotone room with private bath. Spacious and comfortable with separate seating area. The hotel is very beautiful and exceptionally clean. Staff were very attentive and helpful despite our language differences. Breakfast buffet is extensive and of high quality. Keiseke dinner was a 9 course adventure- excellent service and delicious food. Some culinary culture differences but a true Japanese experience. Yumotokan will always be a highlight memory of our time in Japan."
