With the continued impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak, travelling today comes with more challenges. Take a look at these worthwhile tips before jumping on your plane to Northwestern Ontario:

• Find out the restrictions and rules in both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so check in advance.
• Keep your face mask on even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• To reduce the likelihood of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA agent.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag and presented for screening.
• Put any personal items (e.g, wallet, keys and phone) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you're taking food on board, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to handle your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.

As travel borders start to open, airlines have resumed business with new strategies including physical distancing and an increased supply of sanitizer and face masks. Here's what a few carriers are doing to reduce the spread of COVID-19:

• Air Canada - this airline is known for conducting passenger temperature checks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• WestJet - this airline is known for cleaning with disinfectant and electrostatic cleaning.
• Delta - this airline is known for electrostatic cleaning and cleaning with disinfectant.
